Clicked on Google’s listing for a certain implant dentist’s website, read all the info and signed up for a pamphlet for implant pricing. 8am the next morning I get a call from, ”Wes” who was eager to schedule us then we got cut off. Tried redialing the number and another lady came on the phone and I asked to speak with Wes. He was not there and before she could get into details my phone beeped and he called me back saying he is in another doctors office that the Doctor I wished to schedule with had asked him to help out there. He went on to tell me that me and my family members could get together at a coffee place and we could have a virtual appt online with a Carol person. Weird I thought. So I gave him our info and gots some date and time options. He called me back before I could call him a day later and pushed for us to commit to an appt and when I did he asked for a credit card number which I have never heard any dentist do before. I hadn’t seen his or carols name on the dentists website page “meet the team” so I emailed the doctor for confirmation of Wes’s employment with his office and if Wes was working for commissions and about the unusual virtual dental appointment to be had at a coffee house. I never rec’d a reply. So when he asked for a credit card to cover in case of a no show I told him I would call him back but don’t plan to if the dentist doesn’t confirm his employment first. No***ays you never know what kind of spin crooks will try to get your info and esp credit card numbers. Too risky to just trust anyone over the phone.
