Got a call on my work extension. Saying she was from the US Census bureau. Gave me an 888 number to call back but she called from this number. I did not return the call and it looks very su****ious since the 888 number is also not the US Census bureau.

This caller has called several times. I am not willing to give information on the phone. I have already filled out a census form which should be sufficient.

Represented herself as: US census bureau - "It is a***nst the law not to respond to our mailing request that we sent to you."

Wants "census information."

Same voice message as reported by others; calls received at various times throughout the day and week.

I received multiple calls from 'Census Bureau' different numbers, even on Sundays. Never left a message. I was very surprised to have a representative of the REAL Census Bureau knock on my door. He had all the correct identification and do***ents. He conducted a survey (about 20 minutes) and left me info on how to contact him & the name & ph # of his supervisor. He told me they have a phone bank that keeps calling all days trying to reach people. Eventually they send out a real person. He said the calls should stop now. I was floored!!

Actually people they are the Census Bureau (Dept of Commerce) calling about an annual business survey. I have the survey on my desk. I hate filing them out but it's the law.

Got 2 calls today from 812-218-3144, 3 calls today and yes****ay from 520-798-4152, 2 calls yes****ay from 240-420-6029, all claiming to be US Census Bureau. I checked this out on Snopes.com, a website that investigates possible scams, urban legends, etc. According to Snopes, the "Census Bureau Survey by Phone" is a scam that has been around awhile, but is very active lately. They even included some quotes from the real Census Bureau. Like others, I was told to call a 866 number and refer to file or project or so****ing 44177, I think. I have been parti****ting in a Census Bureau survey IN MY HOME for over a year, and still have 5 months to go. I will definitely ask the lady about this next time she comes over, which should be in a week or two. I have entered each of these numbers into my phone's contact list, under the heading SCAM, and gave it a custom ringtone that says Do Not Answer This Call, so I don't even have to look at my phone, I just reject the call.

520-218-3144, 812-218-3144 or any other number from someone claiming to be from the US census bureau. The cenuss is usually on your door step and they have credentials to prove who they are. DO NOT answer any questions. At most tell them to send the census taker to your door step if they want information.

Clearly a scam! Bogus Census Bureau. The REAL CB does NOT conduct interviews or ask for such personal and sensitive information as those from this number do ... over the phone! Like someone else here said...do NOT give it to them! Scam artists seeking to possibly steal your iden***y!!!

said they are census bureau and will not stop calling at 8pm or later in the evening. Threat if I don't fill out the questionaire they sent me in the mail. I received two of these. I have unplugged my answering ma****e. I called BBB and they said they called the real Census Bureau. No 25 booklets were mailed out. This is a scam.

I'm getting tired of these calls from the so called census. They've done this for the past wee****d each time its a different # not just this 812 218 3144 # and they leave a voice mail saying its the census and to call back. Which I haven't done. And don't plan to do. Plus they sent me 2 fourms in the mail. The short version and then about a month later I got this package in the mail that was some sort of survey. I filled that out and sent it back. Oh and some of the questions on there were really ******. Like what time do I go to work and stuff about the mortage on my home. Those I left blank. If thats what they're calling about. I really don't see where thats any of their business. I just wish they'd quit calling. I've actually been tempted to have my phone number c****ed to put a stop to it. : )

Person didn't leave his name...just an account # to reference when calling back. Stated this was a time sensitive matter that by Law I must respond to immeadiately. I am also getting calls from (520)798-4152 with the same name "Censls Bureau" on my caller ID as the (812)218-3144 only difference is that they don't leave messages.

these people keep calling me and asking stuff they shouldn't. So I talked to them and said I don't know....I don't know..They accepted that and quit calling.

You are not telling the truth. This is not a legitimate number. This is a scam and you are probably a criminal.

they (no name)call & never leave a message, must not be important. I do not answer no name calls. If this is the census bureau why did I already get so****ing from them ***g on my door ****? Are they counting us many times? Time for authorities to go check this place out, their are some people that are gullible enough to give them all the info they need. Go get em!! Maybe I'll sic my husband on the next call- he can make up some really funny stories.

I called the 812-218-3144 number back that showed on my caller ID.  I spoke with a Mexican lady named Amaya that has this number and claims she knows nothing about the surveys or anything to do with them.

Census Bureau? I'm tired of w***ver they are.

NOT legit ... This number is not one of the Census Bureau's numbers, you won't find it on any Census Bureau web site. The closest thing to it is the Jeffersonville, In. Cnesus Bureau data center number ... which just means the scammers have a phone number with the same exc****e (812-218-****).Do not give the caller any information.

Harrasment and intimidation calling 2-4 times/day for last two weeks.

I am sick and tired of calls from this number at all hours, all days of the week. I find it unbelievable that our government workers are hard at work on a Sa****ay night at 9:00 pm. I have not answered the calls since they were from an unfamiliar number and will not, based on the internet postings I have seen regarding the number. They've been calling for over two weeks - how many more calls must I pay for on my cell before they stop? Maybe if the rest of our government worked so hard...

I received three calls from these clowns. One on the weekend and I questioned this she replied that they were always open. She first asked me to verify personal information. I replied no and informed her that I would not verify anything. She asked if I had received their packet in the mail I said I received a packet in the mail that had so****ing to do with consumer information. she asked what I did with it and I told her I threw it out with the rest of the junk mail. She said "ohh no" and informed me that it was manditory. To this I replied that my rights to my papers were protected by the cons***ution. she said that they would send someone out. I said by all means. and suggested that she have a great day and to remove this number from their calling list.
