email stating that I had a 399$ charge to my paypal acct. checked my paypal and there s no such activity. They emailed that I should call them. @ 818-937-0654

I received an email today (Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 2021) directing me to call the above number. Here is the substance of the email: PayPal - Thanks for using our services. Order Id : HDSSDTG#HD Invoice Date: November 25 2021 04:28:19 PDT Transaction Status: Successful (Auto Debited from Checking Account) Order Description: Nil (Hmmm, that IS correct, since I made no such purchase) Order Cost: USD 877.36 This transaction payment will debit in next 24 hour from your checking account If you have not made this transaction or notice any error please feel free to call us on +1 818,937,0654 within 24 hours of this purchase. Here we go a***n. We all get a lot of these emails. It worries me that some people might fall for these kinds of scams. I called first, as I planned to give the scammer a pep talk about getting into an honest line of work, but the call would not connect for some reason. Maybe he or she is getting a lot of calls.
