Leave a Comment2-3 calls a day, they check to see if your phone is still active, then they keep calling. Its a Magazine Scam, do not furnish them with ANY additional Information or Banking Details. They've called me daily for at least 6 months..
Guy told me he was checking to make sure i was getting all my magazines. he said some people had not been receiving theirs. i said i was getting some, and asked him to tell me which magazines i was signed up for through his service. he put me on with his supervisor. she asked me what magazines i got. i named the 4 that i receive. she named the 3 she had me signed up for, none of which i would even consider reading. she asked if i had ever signed up for a sweepstakes, or any other, what i would consider "scam." i said no. she said she'd cancel the subscription and refund my money. i don't know how they have my credit card number.
Told me they were from customer service & checking on my magazine subscription (are they arriving in good condition, etc) & also to check if I want the auto-renewal on it when it expires in 20 months. Offered me the remaining subscription at reduced rate of $59 for the remaining 20 months (save $20/mo). I asked when did this subscription s**** - he said a year ago. BUT I've never rec'd these magazines nor ever requested them. I've never been billed either, but he warned me that the conversation was recorded & I agreed to the reduced rate, which I did not. It was as if he was trying to get me to actually say I agree to the $59/mo Otherwise I would get a bill for $79/month!! I just kept saying I don't get these magazines - then he offered courtesy copies since I had not been receiving them. I didn't give him any info other than confirming my name and address which he seemed to have from somewhere. I guess they're just seeing what they can get out of you. I feel so sorry for the elderly in this game because I'm sure they really play them.
This is an attempt to get you to buy magazines. Don't give any financial information. The company is Atlantic Marketing for Publisher's Sweepstakes. You can refuse to buy the magazines and still be entered in the drawing.
These people called and said I was a finalist for $1M. I asked how I got enrolled and they said through my preferred credit card - I was hesitant to give them any info so I said I really didn't know which credit card it was. He asked my age, if I rent/own a home, occupation and said he hoped to call me back with good news in a month. I asked how I could look them up and get more information about their company and he said that he wasn't sure, that he'd get that information from his supervisor. Then he ***g up. Shady!!
I recieved the same call today stating the same thing. Said she was calling long distance from Publishers Clearing House to tell me that i was entered to win a million dollars. She asked my age, then asked if I have a visa, debit, or mastercard I said I have all 3 and asked which one I use the most and I told her I dont know. She said "okay we'll say visa then" then she asked if I rent or own my home. Asked what time would be a good time to call me if I won, said goodluck and ***g up.I called PCH and they confirmed it is fraud.
Claims to be publishers clearinghouse...said my entry was sponsered by my credit card, named off numerous cards and asked who I thought sponsered me...asked age and occupation and ***g up?
claims to be Publisher's sweepstakes. Tells me that I am a finalist for $1 million dollars. tells me that i can get $500 gas voucher if I pay $20/month for 7 magazine subscriptions. probably to ***n access to my credit card/bank acct.
I am on the national do not call list, why are these characters calling when they do not have permission!
