Leave a CommentI just received a call from this same number on 1/29/2010 at 12:22 PM.
Already twice today from this number. I've been getting these ridiculous calls from Houston, Atlanta, and Tampa! All the same kinda deal... they claim I've won so****ing... etc. I know it's a scam. I called back and pressed option 3 to be removed from the list this morning and they said to give it two business days...How do I get these calls to stop?
I noticed this number on my cell phone as a missed call. They did not leave a message, but I called the number back anyway. I got an after hours message saying I had reached the Customer Care Center. The automated system gave me the option of having my number removed from their phone list, so I pressed the appropriate option number and it told me to allow two business days to have my number removed from their list. We'll see if it works.
This number calls my work cell phone repeatedly. They know my name and full address. They claim now to be a verification company, attempting to verify an internet purchase. If you tell them that you are not you, they get very irate and slam down the phone.
I get calls from this number too but I don't answer them....They should get the point and stop calling!!!
I recieved 3 calls from this number in the same day and answered on the 3rd call. It was someone who knew my name, asked me a few questions, and told me I was a finalist in the Publisher's Clearninghouse Sweepstakes for $1 Million. I have no idea how they got my number of if it is legitimate. They did not ask me to buy anything.
I got a call from this number. I called back and asked them to remove me from the list. It was done with no problem. According to the Federal Trade Commission all tele-marketers and tele-solicitors must comply with when asked to remove yur number from their list. If you want to make som money from this, place the name of the company and the date you asked to be removed from the list on your calendar. If they call back within a year contact the FTC and you will receive a check from the offending company. (I used to manage a telemarketing company.)
I called this number back and asked them who they were. They said they represent over 200 magazine subscriptions on recording, but when i spoke to a representative they said i was in some sort of sweepstakes. I have had great success with this if you care to try. For me it is true, but i don't think anyone can tell. Let them know that you are a student and you were doing research for a paper. The number they called was your cell phone and you don't have the money to parti****te and answer all the phone calls you are now receiving. As well, the time to read all the fine print at some of these cites, which is where it says they will sell your number to others. People are more than happy to remove you from a list when they know you don't have any money. Plus i think they are sympathetic to the school thing. Have you or anyone in your household ever tried to get a free laptop or a $$$ shopping spree from one of the larger stores or are you looking to earn an advanced degree, maybe take a vacation? This is how they got all your info that you gave them in the first few pages of filling out what you thought was serious and legitimate special offer. It is not, there is always a twist and you must give a CC number eventually before it is over. (Unless you get fed up and close out of the screen)There are no short cuts and nothing is EVER free. Careful, they all have small print and this will happen every time you s**** filling these things out. If you want to avoid this, go to the company website yourself. Go to Dell, go to Disney, go to a university web cite, they wont sell your info. The technical term is B2B if you want to look it up. It has been the biggest growth opportunity for businesses in the last few years.~.~ Have a nice day
