This number has called me everyday during the week for a while now. ***ody usually answers, but today I got someone on the line. We had a fun conversation. ...well, it was fun for me. This person claimed I owed thousands of dollars and if I didn't make a payment arrangement within the hour then an arrest warrant would be sent and I would be arrested immediately. A few problems here though.. 1. They didn't have my name correct. 2. I do not have an account with the bank they claim had the fraudulent activity. 3. I no longer live in the state they were saying they would issue an arrest warrant in. When I informed the lady of this, there was always a comeback. She would figure out my name. I supposedly did have an account at some point in time and the bank is being subpoenaed to prove this. Doesn't matter what state I'm in because the attorney she supposedly works for represents 32 different states (really??) and they'll find where I'm at and send the officer there/here. I informed this lady that I've been through subpoenas and being served due to going through a divorce. I happen to know they do not call you beforehand to "work a deal" to stop proceedings. Her response to that was, "Well you're clearly just not up to date on the law then." Ha. Okay. All in all, I had fun with the conversation. The "legal representative" I spoke with was getting audibly frustrated that I wouldn't fall for any of her BS and I remained calm the entire time. Our call ended with me telling her that I suppose I would just wait around for the cops to show up in the next hour, but I promise I won't go to jail because I'm not a criminal. She told me that as of today I AM being labeled as one. Nice try, lady. Never been arrested, never intend to be. Please and thank you. I look forward to our next phone call. *Lo-and-behold, it's been 12 hours since that phone call and I'm still sitting here at home rather than in a jail cell.
These are low life scammers that have nothing better to do, can't get a real job and call for a "check recovery." They've been reported to the Better Business Bureau and the case is open for investigation. Looking forward to a quality harassment lawsuit.
