Leave a CommentYeah... I got a txt from this "oceanographer" wanting to buy my speaker cabinet. Apparently he's out at sea right now. In Texas.... So the only way I could get paid is by check. Ummm.... Thanks for the interest??? hahaha I just googled his # and came across all these similar stories about this craigslist oceanographer.
Wanted to send a check for a guitar for sale via craigslist. TX area code and I live in Orange County. They claimed to be an oceanographer, hahaha. Right...
Asked if my tube amp was still available. Wanted final asking price. I am glad I found this page because I don't have time to waste with scammers.
Called about an marshall stack that i had listed on c/l and would never leave a name ,said that they were in a wheel chair and wanted to know my full name and address and they would send me a money order for the full asking price , so i sent them a text asking for their full name ,address, social security number and the keys to their front door ,funny ive heard nothing from them since . If its an out of state number more than likely its a scam, use common sense folks.
Asked about 2 guitars I'm selling, stated they were out of town on vacation, need the guitars next week and would send a check via FedEx. Obvious scam.
Got a text message from this number through cragislist.org. Very su****ious and the text did not contain a contact name. They copied and pasted the posting ***le and just texted that to me.
Asking for "condition and final asking price" of a guitar I had for sale. Very similar to CL scam emails that I receive when I post an item for sale.
