Leave a Commenti've had 25 calls from this no, (**** ups) no messages, just to harass,,,,, as one of the fraud squad officers call's them (effin gutter snipes) i've sent a letter and phone records to LISA MADIGAN, AG OF IL,....and asked to hav these s***bags wiped off the face of the earth, (locked up)
VERY good information thank you...
Don't pay these fools a dime if the SOL, Statute of Limitations, has expired. They buy old and VERY old debt for less then 1% of the original value and try to collect the entire amount. There are ***dred of lawsuits being filed by consumers across the nation. Look up Portfolio Recovery****ociates, PRA. The ironic thing is that they are opening offices, hiring desperate American workers, and taking advantage of weak consumers. Know your rights. If you do pay them a dime, it can s**** a new SOL and they can now sue you. Once the SOL expires, you don't have to pay a dime. Most likely the original consumer wrote off the debt. New laws passed by YES, your Congress, requires companies to issue a 1099C on all debt you don't pay and a company writes off over $600. This is how PRA tries to scare you. But if they do this they have to prove the debt and most likely they can't. One attorney states that they are only allowed to issue a 1099C on the debt they bought. But PRA has been issuing 1099C on the original amount, even though they paid less then 1% of that amount. YES, that is illegal and in time they will get caught. Just be smart and don't do anything unless you know your rights. The new thing is that they are opening new offices and using different names to harass you. I sent them a validation letter request about 6 months ago and now another company from IL is trying to collect a 15 year old debt. Yes, the company is owned by PRA. This isn't funny anymore. I sent a letter to Lisa Madigan, AG of IL. Hopefully, this will get their attention.
how to file a charge?
Portfolio Recovery Agency
This person keeps calling my cell phone but leaves no message...quite annoying
This is Collection Portfolio Recovery.
I have been getting calls from this collection agency for months. Atleast once a day, sometimes more. Within the last few days they have called me with different numbers. I also got a threatening letter in the mail for a debt that is not longer on my credit report and has not been there for 10 yrs. Saying that I may chose to pay off the bill in 3 different options or they will file a judgement within 30 days. Can they do this for a charged off account from 10 years ago? I never answer and they **** up when my ma****e picks up the call. I hate s*** bag collection companies like this. They threaten you into trying to pay them.
I keep getting calls from them, pretty consistently. It's usually only once a day, but sometimes it'll be twice a day. I don't have any debt that I know of. Unless my mother took out so****ing in my name when I was underage (which is illegal of her and the company to do, mind you I haven't talked to her in many years too) and never paid it back. But personally, I don't think I have a bad credit score, since I'm only 20 and I personally haven't into debt at all. (I get credit card offers on occasion, even in this time.)They keep calling my cell phone (which until somewhat recently was under my stepmom's name, but is now under my own name). Honestly, I'm always in the middle of so****ing or I'm asleep when it calls so I never even know I get the calls until much later in the day.
just got a call 20 mins ago from this #. they have been calling now for about 3 wks. there are no negatives on my credit report. appears they are calling on a 10 yr old plus debt that has been charged off by the original company. dirt bags. don't answer the call. they will just keep calling back. i have noticed that the call frequency goes down after you don't answer for some time.
Like everyone else here, I have received this call today. It's from a collection company from a debt that is 10+ years old, and doesn't even show up on my credit report anymore. This company has been calling for over a year now, and they c****e numbers every few months.
They have been calling for about a week but not leaving message. I do not answer the phone at home anymore; my answer ma****e is my filter.I really appreciate all the previous comments because i thought about calling them to find out what they want but decided to do an internet search first.
After several calls from this company looking for me, I decided to investigate using an Internet search. I didn't know until I read these posts that this was Portfolio Recovery because the caller ID on my phone showed "Schiller Par IL" and not Portfolio Recovery.Anyway, they are attempting to collect a debt from Capital One dating back to 1999. I still have the letter from Capital One signed by an Account Supervisor (Marie Wilborn) and dated Nov 12, 1999 which says "paid by settlement." The account is so old it is no longer on my credit report, but these s***bags are still trying to collect money from me. They should not be allowed to continue to harass people.
I began receiving calls from this number on 01/26/2010. Get several calls a day. Portfolio has used so many numbers...glad about the reverse number look-up. I am a senior citizen 69 years old, age doesn't matter, and the regulation of social security and pension being protected from attachment by companies like these has proven to be untrue...they got me...because I didn't see the small print (as long as the money is not deposited in a bank, etc.) I would join the class action suit, keep us posted.
these people jut called me and i ***g up. then they called two more times with a blocked number
These guys don't run out of numbers. Lots of regular mail too.
I want to say thanks as well to those that posted the above comments. It should be very illegal to be able to collect on debts and it not be applied toward the creditor you owe. Good luck if you go for the class action suit. How can those people sleep at night?
These "people" run what has to be a completely illegal operation. The fines they should incur alone shold be enough to fund a small nation. I have told them under no uncertain cir***stances (to anyone with more than a 3rd grade education) they have the wrong number and to end any future attempt at communication. I know they got they understood because what they've done is cycle the call from different numbers in different geographical regions usually no less than three times daily AND on Sundays. I am looking into a class action at this point because the disruption is beyond maddening.
Judt got a missed call from them. thanks everyone for the info
Thank you for everyone that posted previous comments---this helped me significantly! Normally when I don't recognize a number, I plug it into Google to see what results come up.Without the previous comments, I would NOT have known...My caller i.d. on my cell phone said: Par Schiller - IL or Schiller Par IL
This is Portfolio Recovery. They are bottom feeder bill collectors. They buy up old, old, old written off bills for pennies on the dollar. A while back they represented themselves as representing Sears. I fell behind on my account because of caring for dying parents. I always liked Sears and wanted to make it right. I s****ed paying them $100 a month. Got it paid off then found out Sears never got any of the money and still lists me as unpaid. What dirt bags! They just called wanting to collect on a twenty year old bill I don't even recognize. If the original creditor wrote off the bill why should you pay a scavenger?
Has called a number of times and left no message.
a debt collector or other f.er
Refused the call-somewhere in ILNo one knows who it is?
Motherf***ing GOP and their robocalls - begging for money from the taxpayer. Haven't they stolen enough from us?
Got the call and refused it.
Recieved a call from Mary looking for me. Did not claim to be me, so she asked if I knew me. After, dening that I knew me she said "Ok thank you I got the wrong number". The caller i.d. came up as Portfolio Recovery. Guess they have a new phone number out with generic Mary's on the other end.
