Glad I checked the number first and thanks to all the people took the time to report this. I did not bother to respond to the text message.
Scammer is trying to get me to text back. Glad I checked here first!
This is a bot. It only responds to specific responses and sends canned messages. Its only goal is to get names and addresses.
Exact same text that he sent me "Thank you for getting back to me, I want you to be real with me. I love the information provided about it, is there anything I need to fix? I just want to be sure" total scammer just trying to get names and addresses.
Interested in motorcycle ad. Texted back and forth a couple times. Agreed on price. They wanted my name and address to send me a money order. I Googled number and found it was a scam, which I suspected since the person didn't wish to speak directly
Used word for word in the above comments: “Wanted to make offer on a Cl***ic Car I have listed on Autotrader without seeing the car. Asked for my personal name and address to send a Certified Bank Check. “ “All done via text” “Thank you for getting back to me, I want you to be real with me. I love the information provided about it, is there anything I need to fix? I just want to be sure. Said he would send a cashiers check”
Tried to buy motorcycle with same info as others have shared. Wants to send cashier’s check.
They called my in reference to an ad, claimed to be in Georgia but wanted to buy a motorcycle.
Wanted to make offer on a Cl***ic Car I have listed on Autotrader without seeing the car. Asked for my personal name and address to send a Certified Bank Check. Stated that he was using a freight shipping carrier, Amero Freight, of which I googled and couldn't find the company. He has refused to call me after several requests. Attempted to call the number, with no answer.
They say they are buying my Jeep and sending a cashiers check. All fake. It’s happened before.
Yep. Wanted to buy our cl***ic jag site unseen and said he is sending a check. I asked what bank and he didn't respond. All done via text. Now that I have checked on this site, I won't waste any more time on him.
Example text: Thank you for getting back to me, I want you to be real with me. I love the information provided about it, is there anything I need to fix? I just want to be sure Said he would send a cashiers check. He wouldn't do a wire transfer.
Wanted to by truck. Did a search online for his phone number. Got to this list. He emailed through Autotrader. He did not call.
Sent a fake check total scam
Wanted to buy a car
Wanted to buy our car sight unseen. He said he would send a check. He ended up sending a check for over asking and asked for us to send the excess back to him. The check is a fake. I verified with the company on the check. They said the scam has been going on for 2 years. I asked him to meet me in person but then he stopped texting back.
THIS GUS IS A SCAM ARTEST FOR SURE, SAYS HE WANYS TO BUY OUR CAR THEN SAYS HIS WIFE MADE MISTAKE AND SENT CHECK FR=OR TO MUCH ONEY THEN ASKS YOU TO CASH IT AND SEND HIM A CHECK FOR THE AMOUNT OVER THE AGREED PRICE. TAKE IT TO THE POLICE, HE WILL BE CAUGHT
This guy is a scammer. He pretends to want to buy a vehicle or motorcycle. He send a check for over the agreed price, wants you to first cash the check, then send him the difference back. Of course, I brought the check to my bank manager to check it out before even THINKING about depositing it. The bank and account holder the check was written from were both well aware of the scammer. It's just a matter of time for him to get caught. They say he's been everywhere from FL, to CA, to GA, to SD, and more. Don't be fooled!
I was also contacted by this number about a car I have listed for sale he sent me a check for $6,000 more than asking price. I have turned the check over to my local sheriff Dept. He asked me to send him the difference. Its a scam.
I was contacted by this number from an Auto Trader cl***ic car ad I placed. After some text communication back and forth, the party offered to purchase my vehicle by certified check. I'm in CA, he says he is in FL (area cod checks out to be FL). I wanted to check out if it's a real person, and if there are any known complaints.
