Leave a CommentThey called a***n (14 days since their 1st call) & left a message. But I am not the one they (and a couple dozen other companies over the last 4+ years) want to speak to. They have the wrong number & it seems they would rather keep calling the wrong # they were given instead of doing a little research & finally get the lady who owes somebody some money.
Surprise, they left a recorded message. Sound quality was good & plain & the message was repeated (but....). First, I have had no overdue bills for several decades and no one ever contacted me if I overlooked a payment or had an error on a check). No one has contacted me the first time, by phone or mail, for any legal or financial matter, so the caller is illegit or they were given the wrong info or they have the wrong # (which is always the case). They didn't identify who they were (1st of several bad signs). Then they said they had a case with my name & social security number (wrong, they didn't even ask for a name nor address me as Mr __so & so___.). And no case is referenced by a person's social security number (and no need to even mention anything about a SS#). They said "by state law", this was an official notice (wrong in all states?). Politely threatened actions if I refused to call the numer back (wrong a***n), etc. The politeness in the recorded voice of the caller might trick many who receive a call from them. I also discovered that 855 is an area code reversed for future use and is only used now temporarily for toll free calls. Many who use 855 may be legitimate callers, but the free call is for the caller and the person called (you) will pay any charge. So watch who calls you and how long you talk with the caller (even if they are legit).
