I recieved a call from Victoria from Edison Escott and****ociates on Monday morning. She said that I was being charged with check fraud from a payday loan back in 2007 that I owed to Advance America. She told me if I didn't pay them back $1,****** Friday I was going to be taken to jail for check fraud. I s****ed to freak out of course I am at work and a single mother of two young kids. I called her back twice and asked her to e-mail me the do***ents so I could view them, they never came. I s****ed to look this company up online and about 90% of the people say its a FRAUD and do not give them any $. What should I do? By the way today is Friday and supposidly my due date to pay them

Baloney.  THIS IS NOT A LAW FIRM, SO STOP PRETENDING IT IS STEPHANIE.   This is a woman who has been banned from debt collection in Buffalo due to a felony charge.   If she tells you anything about being arrested, she is a***n violating the law.   You cannot be arrested for failure to pay a debt, this is a civil matter.  Report her at once to the Georgia Attorney General.  Have her tell you the lawyers name there-she wont be able to give you an actual lawyers name, because they don't have any.   A***n, REPORT THIS TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN EITHER GEORGIA OR NEW YORK.SAVE ANY RECORDED MESSAGES OR CALLS.

So how did you get your money back? I am going thru the same thing right now. Only they charged my grandmom 3500 dollars. We now know it is a scam, but how do we go about getting the money back. It was already paid by the credit card company.

My situation was very similiar but if these people are SOO credible why don't they  have a website and why am I unable to find this woman under my states bar****ociation. All lawyers are listed there. And if she's not able to practice in my state she sure can't call me about any legal matters. I haven't received a call back after I requested a payment plan with the stipulation that they provide me with payments I have made, my balance, and my fees to equal the amount they state I owe which is almost three times the original amount. They are calling my ex-inlaws and my ex husband's current wife harrassing her saying she is me and I have yet to receive  any legal do***entation of the debt. Under the FTC these are criminal acts on their part as debt collectors. I'm sorry but unethical is right and those of you on here stating the good about this company probably work for them. They are great liars, and liars steal!

you are lying I offered them a payment plan but I needed to see the payments I have made in the past and the exact breakdown of the fees I have yet to hear from them.

Great firm??? We were threatened the same as the caller on this thread.   These people are hacking into loan databases and getting accounts that appear to be overdue.  We called the original financial company and they were willing to work out the payments.  Said that they had not referred anything to Ms. Martin, nor any Edison, Escott and****ociates.  Check the BBB on this people.  Edison is a fraud. Also, they are not lawyers. Drove to the location that they have on their letter and they do not exist.  Anybody can set up a phone number in your area to appear as if they are established there, but they can actually be anywhere.  They trunk numbers from somewhere else.  I reported this to the local police and the AG for the state.  They have gotten ***dreds of the complaints for the same.

i see all of these good things but i told this lady not to go threw with this and she did anyway and cost me $3500 so i ask you is this right or is this a good law firm or what because iam lost at this time can you get my head on stright so that i can see a***n when a rip off is coming my way

All i can say is that this law firm has helped me over the last 2 months repair my credit. stop 3 judgments and reverse a huge garnishment a***nst me....What ever these a**holes are lieing and saying is a bunch of bu***hit-i cant figure out why people are saying anything except positive remarks. this country forced us all in to debt. and these lawyers and bill collectors have a job to do. why do people come down on them and not the credit card companies or the universities (giving our kids 100's of thousands of dollars in student loans) and the banks issing car loans for 3-4x the real value of teh cars ,,,,,, we try in live way way above our means and tehn complain when they want their money back... my name stacy and foolishly got involved w/the college network a few years ago./.. they talked me into issueing them a number of checks and signing up to become a RN.... i found the program to be ridiculous and i no longer wanted to be enrolled... so i stopped paying and kept the books... i was served by a sherriff and almost arrested 1 month ago- it was with the grace of GOD that i received an oppurtunuity to be represented by mrs martin... @ edison & escott.... they were not only some of the nicest people in my hour of need but she single-handedly saved my name,,, my lpn license and my credit... since then i have repaired my credit and completed my RN certification. i sent they a thank you basket and i wanted to tell the world if there are any students like me out there adn in need of a helping hand i recommend this firm.. they are about reputation, not revenue... Just got the same call as the person who s****ed this thread, threatening to have me arrested, saying she has my transcripts for school, my professional license information, credit report, etc. It's a debt collection attempt to the extreme. She claimed to be a lawyer working "pro bono" for ME, and when she realized I wasn't some idiot she could throw large legal terms at and scare me, she s****ed getting obnoxious and rude. Maybe she is an attorney, but the premise that she was calling under and the threatening undertones were out of hand.

What business has this number?

We received a call 24 hours ago from Victoria Martin, claiming to be a lawyer in the firm of Edison Escott****ociates.  She said my daughter owed a debt and if we didn't pay it NOW, she would be "picked up and arrested tonight".  What mother wouldn't try to help her daughter?  How would I know it wasn't true at the time?  Of course I didn't receive the paperwork I was told would arrive in my e-mail in about an hour.  Also messages I left today have not been returned and after putting 2 & 2 together, in hindsight, we have been scammed by an UNETHICAL person and firm who would do or say anything to collect on a debt.
