My husband and I both received multiple calls from this number stating that the caller, "Brian Nelson" was trying to reach as personal references for my brother. We thought it seemed odd and contacted my brother, who indicated that he had not listed us as references for anything. If this is a debt collector for student loans, then they are using blatant lies to ***n information.
Received a call from them. I didn't answer and they left me a message stating that they are calling in reference to someone named Antoinette. I don't know any Antoinette. I know it's not in regards to my student loans because my loans are with Navient and up to date.
attempting to collect on defaulted student loans, they will not only call you! they will call every reference you had listed on your original loan application. my loan is NINE years old so don't think they won't eventually find you. BEWARE: they DO have the authority to garnish your wages and FAST. Try and work with them so it doesn't come to that, but they can take 15% of your check and you may notice it within as little time as a month. It happened to me.
Attempting to recover Sallie Mae student loans in default. Best thing to do is not ignore it, talk to them or else they will keep calling every number they have for you, including your references from your original loan application. Try and work so****ing out with them... a payment plan, so****ing.. because if you ignore their requests it takes less than a month to have your wages garnished. My payroll dept let me know the day before I got my first garnished check, and they took 15% off the top, no consideration to insurances or any of that which was already coming out. 15% garnishment of a 9.50 an hour job was a slap in the face. had the school done what they promised maybe I would have had a better higher paying job and would have had no problem clearing my debt. I did not find the $40,000. it cost to attend that school worth one penny as I was completely unprepared for the jobs in that industry and I was Valedictorian of my class. I feel completely ripped off
