I just got a call from them 10 minutes ago (5:30PM. It hung up right as I answered (a clue that they are phishing, as I think I got it after 3rd ring). The CID only gave me the last 7: 295-5576, I googled and came here.Just keeping th thread/reference active! Thanks for the nfo peeps!
Grrr, I was called at 7;45 am and 9;20 pm today. Was called many times by these ****. I won't ever give a penny. The real fop should step in a close them down if they care.
They keep calling at 8:30AM. I work nights and have told them repeatedly to stop calling so early. But they persist. Even if it WAS legit...no way would I donate now.
please do not call 8:00 is to early to be begging for trying to scam someone
After receiving the donation information by mail, I checked NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. After searching for registered charities at NJ government website, http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/charity/chardir.htm, (using the query "NJ police officer"), I found out that 79% of the money goes to the telemarketer (Fund Raising Expense: Cost of solicitations, professional fund raisers, fundraising activities, etc.). In addition, I also found an article in the regional newspaper about this types of donations in NJ http://www.njspba.com/Documents/FTCletter.pdf). Decided this is not a reasonable way to use of my money.
Congratulations to James in NJ for winning the Researcher Of The Year Award 2010.
They're not only scam artists they're RUDE. They woke me up out of a sound sleep at 8:22 this morning. (I'm off from work for Veterans Day.) I have eldercare issues, so I almost answered the phone. I didn't answer once I saw who was calling. Talk about annoying. By the way, years ago the cop who acted as the liaison to my local block association told us that the real Fraternal Order of Police NEVER solicits by phone.
If this number doesn't stop calling so early in the morning, OR stop completely, I will file a complaint as the law says calls like this cannot call before 9 a.m., isn't that correct?
The Faternal Order of Police is calling at 8:00 in the morning. They call way too much, asking for donations, and they have for about 6 years. We gave them money every year and then stopped, ever since then they have called mabey twice a month and always at the worst time. If you say no and ask them to take you out of your list, they ignored you and continue to call. Is this a case of giving then expecting to have it every year as ones civic duty or a case of harassment. They harass us and I think it should be stopped. What can we do?
On the caller ID its NJ FOP (read fraternal order of police). However they are really NJ POF (police officers foundation) which is a special project of the Italian American Police Society of NJ. I was duped, don't do the same! The donation is not tax deductible because a portion of it goes to the fundraising company not the actual organization. The sticker they sent wasn't even in the right order of the Italian flag colors!!! Sounds like a special interest lobbying group to me. Basically its a scam which tugs at your civic heart strings. Donate directly to the FOP in your area or local PBA only!!
I keep getting calls from them. I never answer but it said NJ FOP.I'v been blocking thier number on my Comcast Phone, but they call back on another number.856-295-5576, 856-295-5587, 856-295-5606, 856-295-5642.has anyone gotten another number from them, I'll block it too.Caller: NJ FOP
BTWI work for a Police Dept. They don't call, they will send you something in the mail to donate.THIS IS A SCAM
Sorry the correct website is www.njfop.org
the number they call from is (435) 637-1074
Keep getting calls from this number caller ID says FOP. Do not think it is legit. I have not answered any of the numerous calls.
This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the New Jersey State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.njfop.com, you can contact them there with any questions or requests. The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for New Jersey police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.
NO They are not. They claim to be soliciting for the FOP but they only give a small percentage of what they collect to the police orgs. THEY'RE scam artist. You're better off donating to your local police directly, if you're donating
Is this a real Fraternal order of police calling before 8:00 in the morning?
