I'm looking for advice on how to figure out how to pinpoint the location of this phone number or maybe track down and name to it so I can find out who this is and get a restraining order for telephone harassment

someone randomly keeps messaging me with a compliment, when I ask for verification as to who it is, they msg me back apologizing because they thought my number belonged to their friend with my real name. when it now has occurred more than once, this seems to be someone harassing me/possibly stalking me. because I got this number after moving out of state away from an abusive crazy ex. and that this area code from the phone number he's texting you from happens to be in an area where he has family.
