Leave a CommentThey are professional telemarketing fundraisers that are calling in the name the Fraternal Order of Police. Check this link out: http://www.stopjunkcalls.com/2006pennies.pdfNote the percentage of the amount that goes to the charity is on average about 25% only. Most of the money you give goes to the telemarketing. I just don't answer the call.Telemarketing = SCAM
This phone number is calling to try to SCAM money for the CT Fraternal Order of Police. I have NOT called the number, nor will I. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions using****entially manipulative techniques, help you waste your donation on fundraising fees, or anything else related to the FOP getting a small fraction of your donation, 12% to 27% Some fundraiser's pocket as much as 73% to 90% and up. Also, there’s information on www.badgefraud.org on the massive numbers of warnings put out by FOP Lodges that do not use so called professional fundraisers and Real Police and Sheriff and Fire Departments. But you can contact them there with any questions or requests.BadgeFraud (dot) org is doing a lot of really great things for POLICE OFFICERS FAMILIES and the people that post are NOT trying to raise money, they are trying to protect the money of the people who protect us, and that is so****ing very good.
theMist:The whole 15% goes to the charity thing is when a professional solicitor is involved. CT FOP is the organization itself. Actual police officers and retired officers control 100% of the finances. Seeing as how you automatically believe information posted by a random lay person on the internet, it's not surprising that you are unemployed.
Got a call from this number today. Caller ID said CTFOP. I asked the man why he was calling for me. And he did not seem very friendly. I told him I was unemployed and he continued to press me for money. I told him I was unemployed and living in a relatives house and he was infact calling me on the relatives phone and he had the unmitigated gall to chide me and insist that I give money when things got better.. Now I will never give to the organization even when I get a job. Especially after hearing only 15% goes to families.
Some places do only hand over 15% to the charity, including the CT Fraternal Order of Police in the recent past. This was due to the control of Civic Development Group (CDG). In mid-2008, CTFOP shutdown for a short while and CDG reopened their telemarketing call center in the same building out of Meriden, Connecticut (210 Pomeroy Ave). CDG pays employees $9/hour (to s****) and calls ON BEHALF OF probably around 10 charities including a cancer charity where they even call places in Ca***a. CDG is where on average ~15% is given to charity. Keep in mind, FOP is different from state to state, but the one in CT is no longer affiliated with CDG at all. Meaning, far more can go to charity. The callers get paid and any bills get paid. When it was CDG, a mass amount of money went to CDG and not the charity "just because" -- there was no reason other than 2 guys who were greedy and already filthy rich (going by memory -- so****ing Keezer and another guy (you can find them via Google)).Hope this teaches many who come across this site.P.S. joeeye, I also responded to you on 800notes.com.
I got a call from that number, the guy said they are a non-profit and collecting money for the family members who are cops that die on the job, its for State & Local police.... Now! this is what the guy said on the phone, but before I donate I'll talk with a few cops I know, I'm sure someone has to know what the deal is, I heard before that some places that collect for the police only give them very little, like 5% or 15%....If its on the level there is nothing wrong with giving a little.... they have a better chance of getting ****ed than anybody else...
