Leave a CommentNot known. I never answer. ****** Mobile customer. I saw this in my local NJ paper:Verizon targeting telemarketer in lawsuitIllegal use of autodialer alleged as nearly 500,000 calls were made to wireless subscribersThursday, February 26, 2009 BY VENURI SIRIWARDANEStar-Ledger StaffVerizon Wireless said yes****ay it has filed a lawsuit to stop a Utah-based telemarketing firm from calling its customers. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Trenton, alleges that Feature Films for Families -- which bills itself as an entertainment distribution company -- illegally used an autodialer to make nearly 500,000 calls to Verizon Wireless subscribers. When customers answered the calls, which were made to their cell phones over a 10-day period earlier this month, they heard a pre-recorded message advertising the upcoming movie "The Velveteen Rabbit." The calls were made on behalf of Family 1 Films, the Los Angeles-based company that produced the movie, the lawsuit said. Verizon said many of the calls were made in rapid succession from the same telephone number, indicating the use of an autodialer. Nearly 11,000 calls were made in less than an hour from the same phone number, with an average of one call every 0.32 seconds. The lawsuit charges violations of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which makes it illegal to use an autodialer to call wireless phones. Other allegations include violations of the state Consumer Fraud Act and invasion of privacy laws. Matt Cooper, legal counsel for Feature Films for Families, said an autodialer was not used to make the calls. "The advertising campaign abided by all applicable federal and state laws, and its intention was to get the word out about this wonderful family film," he said, declining to comment further on the issue. Verizon Wireless, based in Basking Ridge, has filed several lawsuits in recent years a***nst telemarketers targeting its subscribers. In some instances, the company was unable to identify the telemarketers. Many of the lawsuits were settled, some are pending and some were dismissed. Customers often call Verizon to complain and to request credits for the airtime used by telemarketers, causing the company to "incur significant additional costs," the lawsuit stated. Verizon is seeking $500 in damages for each violation of TCPA. "We take our customers' privacy very seriously, which is why we're so aggressive in tracking down these rogue telemarketers," said Verizon spokesman Howard Waterman, adding that the company does not release subscriber phone numbers to third parties. "They need to understand that there are grave consequences for their actions." Venuri Siriwardane may be reached at [email protected] or (973) 392-5994. Reply

They called and left a message about extending an auto warranty. My car is 10 years old and I bought it from a friend. It does not have a warranty. This is a scam.
This number called my cell phone, and a ma****e said so****ing about it being the second warning that the warranty on my car was about to expire before I ***g up.
Called, left no message, called number but says disconnected!
Vehicle warranty scam. I post complaints to the FCC on a regular basis about this scam. Each call comes from a different number, and yes, the numbers are s****ed as when you call back you always receive a recording that the number is out of service.
If anyne gets the company info and address please post so I can file suit-I've already filed complaints with the FTC but with them using a bogus number it's hard to get info.Just contacted Paetec to try to get their info.
They claimed their company was "Auto One Warranty"? This number called my cell today and claimed they were "Warranty Services" from Atlanta, GA. They wanted $600/yr for five years. I said I wanted to call them back. "If you call back I dont know if you will still get this deal." Right, they really mean the ID caller number is not their real number, and they'd apparently like to scam you of your hard earned funds.
We keep getting calls from this number about auto warranty experation.
This Warranty scam needs to stop...even if you wind up with a warranty out of the deal...the way they solicit information is un-ethical and un-m****. They call stating that your vehicle warranty has either expred or is about to and it is not to late to extend. But when you talk to someone...they have no information about the consumer or the vehicle(s) in question. This is just a way to scam innocent people and it needs to stop. What more can I do?
This is part of the popular warranty scam they have s****ed the caller id so the phone number is not one that they own (this is why everyone gets the "phone number invalid message" when calling back).
I recieved a call from 866-209-7845 and I tried to call back and the numbert wasno longer in service.
I got a call from this number too but i don't plan to call back cuz i just read some descriptions about it :(
