Leave a CommentRecorded message from the Cook County Correctional facility. The scammers have called me at least 20 times today. How do i make it stop?
The call was from the Cook County Jail.the rat called twice. I thought itwas a lagidament call the second time so answered it . The crook gaveme a phone number to call for information on two people that were in an accedent. Then I remembered the warning about star number. the time was 12-09 at 5:34 PM, 5:33 PM, 5:47 PM the number the theif called from is, 866-214-9536
we received 2 of these calls tonight, but the answering ma****e took the messages. the message says it is from a "loved one" at the cook county correctional facility and tells me to dial *72. it also left a toll-free number in order to make contact with our "loved one". the ma****e asks us to set up an account and enter social security numbers, credit card numbers, and bank account numbers. i pressed whatever number would get me to an operator, but one never answered.
We received a call from this number advising us that we had been given as the emergency contact for a party that had been involved in an accident. The caller identified himself as being with the State Highway Patrol. We were instructed to call a satellite phone number *72-1773 6570503 and talk to the Sgt. at the scene for the details. I called several times receiving a ring and no answer then a busy signal on subsequent attempts. Concerned that we had written the number down incorrectly I called the MO State Highway Patrol. Before I could even finish explaining what had happen the dispatcher advised me that this was a scam. She said I needed to call my local telephone company and advise them that calls to this *72 number were fraudulent and that I needed to call the Cook County Jail and advise them that I had received this call. This scam is evidently being run by prisoners there.
