Leave a CommentI got Act letter. 888 620 9163 Called said mortgage company may have made errors on imputing loan payments. Wanted 199.00 . Said if no mistakes were made would only refund 100.00 But typically 70% of the time they got you a refund of more than that........I saved my money for so****ing else....
I received the same letter today however, the phone number was 888-681-9902. I talked with representative and he s****ed off stating the price of $149. I asked how he received my information and he said through city records. I felt very uncomfortable that he was so willing to s**** right away to ask personal questions about my mortgage. During hard time like these, and the mortgage industry is a mess people are looking to scam indivduals out of the little money they have. I do not know if they are legit do you? Mortgage Auditing Program Division of A.M. T no address on the letter).
it's a SCAM! they ask you key security questions and file it away in their phishing database, then tell you that you apply for their auditing service and then proceed to ask for you credit card information. they ask you if you have ever refinanced your mortgage before and with whome. Those answersquestions are typically asked when a legitimate service, your financial service to be exact, needs to legitimize you for a password reset and account accessibility. ACT IS A SCAM!
The company is AED = Accelerated Equity & Development but doing business as ACT = Accelerated Cashflow Technologies. AED's business license https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?en***y=1429559-0142 No Utah business license exists for ACT. The $149 refund-overcharges audit is just the come-on to up-sell you to the ACT Program which is nothing more but repackaged Money Merge Account software to shorten your mortgage loan and "save" you ***dreds of $thousands in interest. The truth is you can do the same yourself for FREE by simply paying extra prin****l with every regular mortgage payment -- the more extra prin****l you pay, the earlier you pay it, the shorter your loan will be and the less interest you will pay. The MMA uses the same prepayment of prin****l to reduce interest charges and shorten the loan but the company claimed the MMA's proprietary algorithm was responsible (false!). The MMA has been thoroughly debunked here http://www.***wallet.com/forums/finance/741118/ One of the posters there, mikef07, got a MMA agent to run his mortgage numbers, compared it to extra prin****l payments, and mikef07 says at the top of this page http://www.***wallet.com/forums/finance/741118/?s****=914 that "The results do show that by using the MMA software it would cost me $5070.29 extra." Yes, buying and using the MMA will cause you to *LOSE* money on the deal. At $3,500, the MMA is a NET LOSS for your finances. Do It Yourself really works. I paid a 15-year mortgage off in 66 months without the MMA or a spreadsheet or a financial calculator. I paid about 1/3 of what the total interest charges would have been had I carried the loan to the full 15 years. And I also "saved" tens of $thousands of interest though that "saved" interest *NEVER* left my pocket and I never missed paying it. The concept of "saved" money that you haven't paid out is idiotic -- just think about a used car priced at $1,000,000 and sold at $10,000 thereby "saving" you $990,000. You should only consider whether the car is worth the $10,000 that will be leaving your pocket; the $990,000 "savings" is irrelevant. Don't fall for this "savings" nonsense. The ACT Program falls in a category of scams where the product/service being sold actually works but is unnecessary or you can achieve the same result yourself at much lower $cost or for FREE. If you knew how to Do It Yourself, you would *NEVER* buy the ACTP because you'd be paying big $$$ for so****ing easy that you could do for FREE. Beware you may not want to tie up your cash in an illiquid****et (your home) in this uncertain economy where there are millions of forclosed homes on the market with more on the way. "SAVING" MONEY THAT YOU HAVE NOT YET PAID OUT IS A DUMB CONCEPT.DO NOT BUY ANY PROGRAM TO RETIRE YOUR MORTGAGE EARLY OR TO "SAVE" MORTGAGE INTEREST OR GET A "REFUND" OF FUTURE MORTGAGE INTEREST --- YOU CAN DO THE SAME FOR FREE! FREE! FREE!
If you want to read more info about it, check out the comments on this site for the caller phone number of 877-670-5577. We received a letter in the mail from ACT RE: Mortgage Audit. They wanted us to call 1-866-259-0031. ACT or http://www.consumerservicing.org.
ACT mortgage audit offer. Fraud!!!!!
Got a letter with this number listed at the end telling me I could be owed money on my mortgage. Seemed fishy. I haven't called the number and they haven't called me but they are mailing stuff to me.
I received this letter offer yes****ay also. This doesn't sounds right. I believe some sort of scam.
Got the same letter. I've worked in the security business for way too long and am way too paranoid (only because EVERYONE is out to get me...) to fall for this.
I also received a letter from ACT I believe its a scam, phishing, I will not call the number and will throw letter away.
I googled ACT Mortgage Audit Letter. The results the people had a different phone number to call than 866-259-0031 but the same situation. This seems to be some sort of phishing expedition that has been going on for at least a year. My letter arrived April 8 and the expiration is April 19. That should set off some alarms. No web site, no address on the letter head. I'm tossing it.
What did they say and who are they. Is it a fraud company
i got one of those letters in the mail yes****ay
This came on a letter about a mortgage refund with the name ACT on it.
Received a call on landline.
