They've been calling for almost 6 years now looking for Barbara Benjamin who never lived here ( I built the house).I told them many times but they continue to call.

called back. acme debt collection asking for someone that i didn't know. talked with someone who removed me from their call list.

I received a call from this number today. No message was left, so I returned the call and spoke to "Mike". He was extremely polite and resolved the issue quickly, deleting my telephone number from their system so that I would not be bothered with calls from them in the future. He was surprisingly very pleasant to deal with. More collectors should be so polite and respectful.....they may actually do some collecting!

Right, AFNI is a debt collection company and "Do Not Call Registry" has absolutely nothing to do with debt collection calls. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates all debt collection activity including harassing telephone calls. You can collect $1,000 under this federal law for harassing phone calls, doesn't matter if you owe the debt or not. Found this number in an email (in spam) which said it was from evoice & that I had a voice mail and I should click on their link!  DO NOT DO THIS; I didn't & never click on anything I don't know, but now I find that they also call people!  What are they going to stoop to next!  There oughta be a law!!

I have to agree with everyone else on here.  They have already called out home 4 times today and I know that can't be legal.  The FDCPA law states that they can't so how do they get away with it ????  They also hide the 888 part because it shows as if they are calling from my area code.  But when I looked this phone number up a collection agency came up with 888 in the number.

This number has been calling my number for ages and like the rest of the comment, I do experience them calling late till pass 7:00 PM and as early at 8:00 AM on weekends. TIRED OF IT!!!

First, I forwarded my regular phone to my cell, since that's usually easiest to reach me. Then, I simply added them to my list of phone contacts on my cell phone with a name of Ignore37, so whenever my phone vi***tes (I have it set to vi***te), I see the ID and just ignore it. You ask why the 37 at the end? Because I have done this with about forty of such anonymous, insistent callers. Now I never pay a cent, never answer a call, never have to call back, and I eventually wear them out. I have no debts, and never defaulted, so I know they aren't calling for me! Any number I do not recognize and that does not leave a voice mail, I Google and then list them as Ignore##, if necessary. Try it!

I am not Diane Young. I have had my phone number for a number of years and they have been calling for this person for a number of years or as long as i have had this number. I have told them to look up this number to find out who has it and they still continue to call. I have reported them before but they are strting to call a***n, this is the secont report

866-265-5945 - They call several times a week and even sometimes on weekends. Answered once to ask them to quit calling (we're on a DNC registry) and got robo-voice asking me to verify I'm Sharon _______. I'm not. ***ody here is. I WANT THE CALLS STOPPED! Am prepared to stop service to our land-line if necessary. These people are pirhanas. Who in my legislature can I complain to?

I counted over a 20 calls from this number on my caller ID just in the month of July. It's the same thing, they call, leave no messages on my answer ma****e. I'm really sick and tired of it. Seems to me if a collector is calling he'd leave a message if he wants/needs to be contacted, buuut what do I know.

Calling a federal government office several times a day every day.

Calls constanly. No identification as to it is. I do not pick-up. I have no debt if this is a collector. Needs to stop.

I'm getting sick and tired of these ****s calling 2 or 3 times a day 4 days a week - the voice mail messages cut off after about half of a word.  I finally called from my cell and I'm sure the woman who answered was trying to get me to verify my cell number and if I'd gotten calls on it (I tried blocking using *67 prior to their number, and obviously they've got hack tools in order to bypass the blocking capabilities) - I never let her get beyond saying "have you received calls to 253 ..."  and I thought they'd said "acne" when they answered my question of "what company is this a***n" - I finally asked how to spell it and she kept trying to get me to verify the cell number which I never let her finish her sentence ever - when she spelled it, I said "thank you" and ***g up - I then went to the net and researched them and found they are a bottom feeder collection agency, their primary account is Verizon, and they try to collect on debts that are beyond the state statute of limitations for collections (debts that are over 7 years old and were written off a long time before) - I had received a piece of mail probably from them offering to settle for $50 - I've also read they try to twist people's arms on the phone for their social security numbers, address, credit card number, and so on - NO WAY - NO INFORMATION WILL GO TO THEM - I answered the last call and hit 4 to state the person they're looking for isn't at this address - if they continue, I will be left with no alternative but to threaten them in one way or another (most probably with a huge lawsuit a***nst such a scam company).

This call is the most annoying of all calls. I do not have any accounts with this company.

I am only visiting and I am getting calls to my friend's land line.  My brother also lives out of sate and he came to visit and he is now receiving calls on my friend's land line....what the F@%&!$^)(#$&^)(!!!

Called and wanted to speak to someone I know, would not give me any info about them, said they would remove me from their list. I hate these calls. Especially after a hard week at work. It's like getting pecked by ***** chickens. I am on the no call list too. How can this be stopped, it's invasive and abusive.

This is just simply annoying. W***ver keeps calling has literally called 8-10 times daily for weeks now. I refuse to answer. The one time I did it was an automated voice that cut off and ***g up on me. I am alright with ignoring the calls, I just get annoyed with the constant ringing.

This is a debt collector looking for someone we do not know and who does not live at our address. I can't be sure this isn't a phishing expedition, but the caller has not requested information about me personally.

This debt collect continues to call regardless of the fact that they have been told that the individual they are calling for no longer lives at this address or phone number. They call several times a week.

Aggressive debt collector for a debt that does not belong to us. They never leave a message and can never get someone on the phone when we do try to answer

REceived three calls from this company

TEXT sent asking me to call about a resume I have posted. They did not give company or contact name. My paper is posted on Monster and Careerbuilders. THis is not good if just anybody can intercept the info

This exact same thing is happening to me.  Tell AFNI to HIRE SOME DANG AGENTS WITH HUMAN CAPABILITIES.  At least that way they could correct their call list and actually resolves some debts.

Calls 2 or 3 times a day to talk to a person I've never heard of about "collecting a debt."

I get this number calling my home phone at least three to four times per day. I am on the don't call list.

These people keep calling my number even though they have been told that the person they are looking for does not live here.

These people call me 3 times a day every day. Half of the time the recording ****s up before stating the name of the person they are looking for.I tried pushing 4 (for "this person does not live at this address") and they keep calling.I called and spoke to a representative, explained that we are a business and the people they ask for are not any of our employees. She apologized and promised to remove the number from their list.Needless to say, they still call, 3 times daily.

They have called 5 times today. We dont answer numbers we dont know. And we are on the do not call list.
