For those of you who are saying that this is a legitimate call from 5th/3rd Bank, you are wrong. I have called 5th/3rd Bank and they say this is a phishing scam and not connected with them at all. Do NOT listen to the caller or give them any information. 5th/3rd does not collect money this way. They do it by letter. It is a scam!!!!
Received a call from them this morning. Asked for me by name. I asked who was calling and the man gave his name and I said I don't know anyone by that name. He became agitated and I told him if he could not identify himself any better than that I was going to **** up. He s****ed to raise his voice in a demanding manner and I ***g up.
Even if there was an account with them, it's impossible to reach them or get them to stop calling....

It's fifth Third bank lol I for sure won't pick up the calls ****
This is fifth third bank. They call about 20 to 30 times a day. They had began to block their number when they call. I received 29 calls from them before 2:00pm. Ridiculous!!!
Keeps calling day after day. I answer with*****o and wait several seconds but no response. I am****uming it telemarketers of some kind. I have no outstanding bills for collection so it can't be that.
Why would any company, today with the economy the way it is, would think anybody would give, send, or even answer the phone when they call.
Spammer
sounds like a debt collector, they have to verfy that they are speaking to the right person before they can tell you what its about.
There is so much bull in this thread. Even if on a dialed system you can & are required to remove bad/inaccurate numbers, so if they say they can't stop calling without your info 1st it's BS. All they want is ur name to add your name to that #. I am manager with NCO and know a little about collections, this company is seriously violating FDCP laws left & right. Just today I've received 15 calls from this # all ****-ups. IT IS a violation to call back after you are ***g up on. I've contacted the home 5/3rd office in OH and submitted a written cease and desist letter sent certified mail yet this # still calls daily & Every Sunday a 8AM. They are a small collection agency not 5/3rd bank, larger companies (collection agencies) won't risk a law suit to collect a debt it jut not worth it. Smaller co's though usually close up shop or c****e their names so often that law suits can't stick. DO NOT give anyone any info that calls fro this #. if you can do***ent all calls and file a complaint with your local attorney generals office, the BBB won't do anything. They are a private company that provides ratings for the companies that pay them the annual 500 "donation".
I received a call from this number on a Sa****ay morning in 2011. The voice in the recorded message had a strong British accent and said "This is Fifth Third Bank. Today is December 1, 2007. Thank you for calling Fifth Third Bank." Then it went on to say other ordinary things like their hours of operation, etc. It was obviously a glitch of some kind in the system. We have always had good dealings with Fifth Third in the past, but this call concerns me. I tend to agree with those who think it may be someone using the Fifth Third name to try to scam people. I will definitely speak with our local bankers about the call. This kind of thing c****es my at***ude towards a business.
This number is not a scam... It's an affilate of Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, OH. They are a collection group who works on a dialer, they have no control over who they call.
I used to work for 5/3rd about 2 years ago. You never get calls from them unless your account is seriously past due and they at least at that time did not have any call centers in or around Mexico! Thier main office is in OHIO, the calls would originate from there. I received a call from this number, called them back froma different line, no answer... So long as they do not call after 9PM they won't be vilolatin the FDCPA- keep this in minf in the even that you get a call before 8AM or 9PM in your time zone.
They tell me to hold for a message from 5/3 bank. Eventually it goes dead. 4 times a day.
I just recieved a call from this number asking for a guy I work with. I am the office administrator so I often take mesasages for people. They told me to tell him to call 1-800-457-0839. I then asked if I could refer him to his local ***nch, they told me "the local ***nch would not have the same information as us..." Then i called a local ***nch and told them that, and they informed me that the local ***nces have full access to all customer information. So........it's a scam.
I just got a call from 866-450-0037 and when I picked up it was a person with a very thick accent saying they were from 5/3 bank but I've received calls from 5/3 in the past and when it's an official phone call, they would s**** with this weird chime and then an automated voice saying it was 5/3 bank and to stay on the line. It's scary though because this person actually had my full name but they stumbled over the stereotypical telemarketer/customer service lines so I figured I should just **** up before confirming that that was my name.
I get this call also and every time they call me i let it ring then after it stops ringing the internet will go dead for about 10 seconds
Oh my god, I got calls from this number during school, and the guy seemed nice enough, asking me if I was Brian Staub. I said no, and he asked what my name was, and I told him the name the phone was under, and then he said no more calls would come to this phone. Was that a ****** mistake? He seemed sincere and apologetic enough, but it could have been an act. Please reply and tell me what you think!
I keep getting calls from 866-450-0037 but no one ever answers. They just constantly ring my phone # and then the line goes dead. It happens constantly all day long. Can I do anything about this harassing issue?
Add me to the list of getting these phone calls. One of the h***ards we face with the coming of the com****r age I guess. Can it be stopped? It is definately a scam.
I work at a 5/3 bank in Northeast Ohio. This number has called the ***nch that I work at numerous times and once anyone answers the the phone they disconnect. DO NOT give anyone information from this phone number. It is definitely a scam!!!
They call my number at work several times a day and click off as soon as I pick up. While people may say it's 5/3 Bank, I am sure that's not true and must be a scam. Drives me nuts!
I answer and they **** up. They call at least two or three times on some days - then skip other days. I have no idea who they are.
I got a call from this number today and ignored it as I recognized an 866 # as likely a marketer or so****ing. No message was left. 3 hrs later I got a call from an unknown caller and answered it out of curiosity and it was the same outfit- someone claiming to be from 5/3 Bank. I have the benefit of having had 2 accounts with them in the past, 2 years ago, and having had closed them due to a move with them paying me several thousand in balance. Therefore I knew there was no way I owed anything or had any business left to do with them.I calmly told the operator that I was aware of his scam and I would report him to the proper authorities (which I really couldn't since it was a blocked #) he raised his voice and tried to state his case, but I told him what to do with himself and ***g up.
The call is from Fifth/Third bank. They called us this morning (Sunday) at 8:42 AM asking for our daughter. She has accounts with them, but she is at college. They didn't even have her correct name. My husband and I are also on the account, but they would not tell us what their concern was. What legitimate bank business would be conducted on a Sunday? Watch out for this call - give them NO PERSONAL INFORMATION.
I received a call from 866-450-0037 They said they're from 5/3 bank but I asked them for the bank location and the guy told me they're located in the border with Mexico so I call my ***nch and they said they do not have any ***nches in that area, so be carefull it is a SCAM....
It's not a scam. They are a real bank (and a large one) located out of Cincinnati, OH. They also have locations throughout the midwest. I believe they are probably calling looking for someone with a past due bill. I know this because I work in a bank. BUT!! As always... be very cautious with ANYONE who calls YOU over the phone. When I recieve phone calls from "a bank" I refuse to answer any of the validation questions such as the last four digits of my social or any personal information. The best thing to do is to get a phone number where you can call THEM back and verify that they are truly who they say they are. Also keep in mind that large banks like Fifth Third do in fact have smaller local banks and credit unions who sometimes use them as "the middle man" to extend lines of credit and process payments. So you may not have heard of Fifth Third Bank, but they may be originating a loan or credit card for you that you were never aware of! :-O
They call constantly from Fifth Third Bank - never heard of them. The number they want you to call for info on "your account" is 800-421-9543 - when you google that number there are several people reporting that it's a scam. But how do we get them to stop calling?
