I just received a call from 866-579-5447.The person identified himself as a verizon employee, and then s****ed asking me a lot of questions like:Are you the person in charge of the account?Do you have dial up or dsl?I would****ume that if it were a verizon agent they would ask for me by name, and that they would know if I have dial up or dsl, as I have dsl through them.I didn't not give him my name, nor answer his questions.I asked for his phone number and he quickly gave me 800-263-8015.I put him on hold and called the number from another phone.  It went directly to a message telling me the line was busy, but it did not identify it as a verizon number.A google search for the number did not come back as a verizon number.When I asked him to repeat who he was with he a***n stated he was from Verizon, and offered to connect me to his supervisor. When I asked him to do so, he put me on hold, and then told me the supervisor was busy.A***n he tried to get me to answer his questions.I refused and asked him to remove me from their call list.He never acknowledged my request.After he ***g up I called Verizon they confirmed that they would not call and ask questions in that way.  Nor did they have a record of calling me.My guess is this is a agency that sells "Live" numbers to phone companies for marketing purposes.  I don't think there is much harm beyond getting more and more junk phone calls.
