Leave a CommentI sure wish someone would go after them and shut them down. I have had the exact same experience as everyone else who has posted here. I can't believe that what they are doing is even legal. I plan to file complaints a***nst them with BBB (there are several others), FCC, FTC and the NY Attorney General. Please consider doing the same.
lets get them .
After the anitial recorded "yes " chat with these folks and me saying I did not buy any thing I have have had one colection calls,, 6 in a row faxes from webb and ?? law ofices and two call from them now ,When I said its a scam the guy asked if I was accusing his client of fruadulant activity , so i ***g up before they could record me saying anything elese...From now on i will just **** up or only ask questions like whats your name or may i speak to you boss or proove it . Best I can tell is YMG doent excist and the yellow page people said part of the scam was to add s to yellow page to throw us off
In speaking with the FTC, BBB, and Attorney General's office and filing complaints with all three...we were advised to send a certified letter disputing the charges and that there was no further action we could take at this time. After all of this we are convinced that they are just trying to "scare" us into making payment before it "goes to court" which they****ured us it would -the woman at the FTC also agreed that this is likely a scare tactic.
Same here.. since february -calls stating that we have a listing and owe $499 -which is now up to $781.77 after non-payment -it went the same way for us they have a recording that they claim is "FTC or FCC" regulated therefore could not be altered...THIS is FALSE we have been in contact with both the FCC and FTC and they do not regulate such things. they only regulate that they notify us that we are being recorded NOT that the recording is not altered. Which our recording absolutely was altered and we believe it would never hold up in court despite what they say.
What did your lawyer say regarding their case even if an authorization was obtained under false pretext and is a scam? For us too they seem to have a recording but only because they cut out the first part where it was clearly stated that the person does NOT have authority.
The exact same incident happened with us where a cold telemarketing call was made. The front office person responded by saying that the yellow pages directory listing is not needed and the person is NOT authorized to approve it. A few days later another call was received to verify the order and upon informing that they did not have authorization was told that they are just confirming a prior order. The sales person kept insisting that this was a verification of an earlier order and one could cancel at any time later. An invoice was requested but never received. 30 days later we were sent a fax that now late fee is due on an initial order of $499.95 to the amount of $564.95 and the account has been sent to collections. The person calling from www.theyellowpagesnetwork.com is Nick Moss with phone numbers 866-928-***0 ext. 608 and the Manager who used extreme threatening language was Rick. Plan to report to FTC
Called my business, have Indian accents. Insisted was same big yellowbook from mail, calling to confirm info for next publication. Sounded fishy so I kept saying I you should already have our info we've had this listing for years. Kept asking my name and position. Quoted $499 for 2 years but our real yellowbook ad is more. Everytime I voiced su****ion they insisted it is nothing new and just confirming our info but kept asking to confirm I am authorized to make purchases. They fwd me to 3 people after 2 people called earlier today. Then I saw this posting so I called the 866 # back to cancel but the American guy answered said the salesman do not accept incoming calls. Told him I looked them up don’t have an acct with you, he quickly asked if I wanted to cancel my listing and I said yes he quickly said ok I'll cancel that order and was going to **** up but I stopped him and got his name "Dorian" and conf # but I'm sure I will still get that invoice that person and # won't be found.
I had them call me too. I told them they could send me an invoice to review but I was not committing to anything. If I elected to take the service I would let them know after I reviewed the invoice. They did the same recorded conversation with me but they DELETED the part where I said I wasn't committing to anything and I'll review the invoice. They now call me to collect almost every day. I reported them to the FTC.
Received this phone call as well. I have been told by my lawyer (contacted because the person calling me informed me that I would be sued if I did not pay the "legal contract" amount) that this is a scam. They do, however, have a recording that was played-back to me...makes it seem pretty legit. My advice: Never say "yes" "yep" or any other word that can be used as a positive affirmation of an "order".
Received a call from 777-288-7984 and a fax from 866-928-***0 stating that I had made a verbal authorization - (I didn't) I told the person on the phone that I told the previous person that I was not authorized and that we would not be paying anything. I was told that they were going to listen to the taped conversation and get back to me. I know that I did not agree to authorize anything and I did not get a call back (doubt if anything was recorded anyway). I let the last person that I talked with that a verbal agreement doesn't hold water in my state or any other state that I can think of so try send me to a collection agency (bogus). We have to stand up to these scam artists and put them where they belong... behind bars
Got one

Supposed to be from a company called either YMG publications or Yellow Pages Network -- trying to sell advertising in a publication of some sort
