I was on FB and this official looking announcement came on requesting that I call with a warning...I had to reboot to clear it.
Not text msg but FB item shared by another. Clicked on and got "Charter.net customer, FB and financial data compromised. Call 866 etc." had to click choice 'no more dialogs from this page' then I could click Close, and then close tab. URL on page was to so****ing like installmentpossibilities.com. Not promising.
Total HOAX! Clicked on story to the side of my FB feed. Locked up my ipad. Searched for the website they referenced in the very official looking warning that REFUSED to go away and would not allow me to navigate away. Came here to see that the number is what I suspected a SCAM to steal info with my help. Power down your device and reboot. Click out of the tab on your browser as soon as it shows up and before it loads. You will be fine.
My mom got a window open on her computer after clicking on a "new story" on Facebook. This phone number was part of a message saying the computer and their financial information had been compromised. It locked up her computer and wouldn't let her close the window or do anything else. Not good!
Popup window on my computer with message: WARNING: ****** Customer - Your Financial information has been compromised. etc, etc. call this number immediately. I panicked and called the number. They wanted to remote into my computer, but I said I didn't know who they were but I would have someone else check it out and ***g up.

Click OK to s**** scan and call 866-977-6855 now for IMMEDIATE attention. Popup and all open windows in Chrome frozen. Did not want to click OK so had to res**** PC to close it.

This number was on my computer along with ( WARNING to Century Link customers ) Fix your computer. It would not let me click out of it! I had a BAD feeling about this .
