Leave a CommentThey talked way too fast - this is a big college town here - who is this?
It's a collection agency!ppl don't pay their bills - they duck and run - c****e phone numbers - these agencies call to gather information. the reason for the ***ue responses from the representatives is because each delinquent/unpaid account is seen as a case or file. Information about the individual in questioncan not be exposed to a 3rd party...When I called back to find out what these guys wanted,I was told that I had an old credit card bill that I never paid. When I looked into it, it turns out that they were right (oops!). I was able to settle my account for half the amount owing.
Very ***ue - one of these deep voices to scare seniors. Business is not explained.
I am also getting these calls. What can we do about it?
Calls 2 -3 times a day and never says who it is. Just that someone from my number needs to call them back.
I get these calls everyday too from these guys (877-295-9638) and others. There are many free autodialer programs online. Go here for one: http://www.voicent.com and download a free version of their autodialer program. You can set it up to repeated dial their number using the voice modem in your PC and it will convert a text message into a computer voice. The shareware version has limitations including an annoying message before and after your designated message. I recommend you fight back by flooding them with calls. If we can get many people to do this, their lines will be ******* and THEY will be annoyed for a c****e. You can set it up to call many different numbers too so use a***nst all the collections people that call you. The shareware version only holds 20 numbers, but is easily res****ed. If you can enable caller id blocking so they can't see who's calling, that would be best. I'm using a magicjack phone that doesn't have that feature available, but for $10 I can c****e the number whenever I want. They call on my cell. Another trick available on my Verizon cell phone is no-answer-call-forwarding. I can see who's calling and if it's an unwanted number, I just don't answer. I have my phone forwarded to one of the banks that call me. So one bank, gets another bank instead of me. On one occaision I answered and 3 way called the other bank without saying anything. It was hilarious to listen to one bank ask for me, thinking they were talking to my work.FIGHT BACK!! ANOY THEM BACK WITH AN AUTODIALER!
5th call from the same phone number over the last 3 weeks. Keeps calling my phone with a recorded message. Please note: even though I am answering the phone it is always a recorded call that doesn’t provide details as to what the problem is or who they are trying to reach. The recorded message indicates that I must call back immediately to resolve my issue in order to prevent further escalation. I have not called back. The most recent recorded call identified the caller as Metcaff or Metcalf. I am unsure of the spelling. He said that do***entation has been mailed, and the issue must be resolved today. I never received anything in the mail. I don’t have issues. The caller id only brings up toll free number 877-295-9638. When I Google this phone number it appears others have been having trouble with the same caller for some time.
Call was very rude,no details about subject, what is going on.This is getting very very irratating. What can I do to stop this?
Person called my sister-in-law, used my wife's maiden name, sounded real fishy...Not sure where they got name and number, must be using some sort of old data base
who is this person!
Have had several calls from 1-877-295-9638. Let most go to answering ma****e. Caller said Andrew Metcalf and client ?? needs immediate response. Blah blahetc. THis is very scary to a family that has led their life honorable and with our age over 80 claas like this could lead to a ****** or worse. I filed a complaint with the FTC who told me they don't investigate individual complaints. THerefore I urge you to file a complaint with the FTC and maybe we can put this guy away.
Got a voice message to call Alan Metcalf about a credit card account. Then, several days later, all 3 of our phones rang at the same time (home phone, and my husband's and my cell phones), with 877.295.9638 as caller ID. I answered mine and was directed to press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish- no other options. I ***g up and called back. The guy who answered said his name was Omar with Global Credit, and he was calling about a different credit card account. He then asked me to verify my Social security number and birthdate to confirm my iden***y. I informed him I would not be giving him that information, gave him my attorney's number and told him not to call any of our phone numbers a***n. I think Global must purchase collection accounts from credit card companies, then call to collect.
Got the call this morning from Andrew Metcalf, won't give out any information you call it's a recording to leave your name. Just another scheme to rip off somebody.
Yea I got a call from 1877 295 9638 they called the cell phone and then couple seconds later they called the house I am trying to find out who it is.
dp, I think I got the same call you did: recorded male voice, gave his name as "Andrew" calling from "Global" and said that due to the "privacy act" he couldn't give the name of the person he wanted to reach. He did, however, urge me to call him back to "improve my situation".
Caller indicated due to confidentiality could not say to whom HE wished to speak nor was any business or company named. There has to be a way to stop these irritating calls.
Caller left two messages on my work voice mail. The first on 2009-09-16 at about 8:40 PM EDT and the second on 2009-09-18 at 11:46 AM EDT. Caller identified himself as "Andrew Metcalf" and his extension as 8731. Caller indicated he was calling on behalf of his client, whom he neglected to identify. He did not indicate the reason for the calls other that it was "imperative" that he speak to me within 24 hours. He did not address me by name in either message.
