Actuall y my mom recieved a check from them and we called and got this confirmation number and was told the check was good to cash. We did cash it and spent some, ****** us. It turned out it was a fraud now we have to pay back the money. We called them from the police department and the lady on the other line told us that it is not her problem it was ours. PLEASE DON'T CASH CALL OR USE THIS CHECK IT IS A FRAUD.

my friend got the check in the mail today and was so excited but i was nervous about it i thought it's too good to be true, and her computer was down so i looked it up for her and sure enough i found this site. what a shame she was so excited that's just down right cruel. the thing that threw me off is that they didn't ask for your own money but money after you cash the check. now i know better too boy you just can't trust anything or anybody no***ays. what a world we live in.

I received this letter with Check of $4995, I checked and google, it is really scam. How can we report to stop this scam.

I received a letter from gold star securities inc.  saying that I won 250,000.00. Saying to call 905-781-2729 to claim the prize.  But I researched the company online and now I see what a scam this is.  I hope the people pulling this scam get caught and rott in jail...

CALLED THE NUMBER, THE LADY STATED TO CASH OR DEPOSIT THE CHECK AND CALL BACK. I CHEKED WITH THE COMPANY AND FOUND THIS SITE, SAME SCAM AS ALL OF THE OTHER PEOPLE ON THIS SITE.

Got the same thing you all did. Gold Star Securities Inc.,sent me a check for 4,995.00. I have had this happen before and reported it. These people are nothing but scam artists. I did send copies to the bank they were drawing on and they were eventually caught and shut down. I am going to do the same this time around. Lets hope they go to jail before they take someone's hard earned cash.

My parents got a check and letter from Gold Star Securities Inc. And deffinately is a scam. Cause not only does the envelope it came in not have a return address on it and a cheep label with our address on it , but on the check for 4,995.00 they spelled thousand wrong.... dumb criminals.

I received the exact same letter stating I won $250.000. A check in the amount of $4995.00 was included with the letter. This is a SCAM.. do not attempt to cash it... these people should be locked up and put behind bars for the rest of there lives. It is unbelievable that these foreign criminals are getting away with it.

I gat the same letter claiming i won 4995dollars ,but pay the tax of2995.00, this was a scam as soon as i opened the letter, they said they had try to contac me which is a lie and i don,t call anyboudy international, especially when they want mony. Sounds like the old nigeria  woman that wants to deposit 1 million in my checking acount, anyway  please add me as a receipent of this bogus check, Thanks j   Bailey.

I reieved a letter saying I have won 250.000 and a check for 4995.00. I called the number and a voice said to deposit the check. I new it was to good to be true so I researched on the computer and found out it is a scam. I hope they get this people becuse it is not right they take advanage of people.

Got the same letter.  I did the internet reserch first before going to the bank and I am glad I did.  I am barely just making it now and to get caught up in the deposit of a fake check would have really hurt me.  Not to mention the stress of the period of hope that I had won so****ing. It is funny that they mentioned the name of a company Lowes where I had put in for a money winning c****e from a purchase made. Even more hope this was real.  Oh well just my luck which is the only kind of luck I have- bad luck.  I thought no return address on the envelope  and the lack ****er tone of the lady I talked to was a hint of " so****ing wrong", guess I was right.

I ALSO RECEIVED A CHECK AND LETTER BUT DECIDED TO RESEARCH BEFORE CALLING THE NUMBER AND AM I GLAD I DID. HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE GET AWAY WITH THIS. PEOPLE PLEASE BE AWARE THAT NOTHING COMES THIS EASY ESPECIALLY $250,000. SENDING A CHECK OF THIS AMOUNT IN AN ENVELOPE WITH NO RETURN ADDRESS SHOULD BE AN AUTOMATIC ALARM. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE CAUGHT AND MADE TO PAY EVERYONE AND ANY ONE THEY SENT ONE OF THESE CHECKS TO FOR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS.

Beware of this scam.Received a letter in the U.S. Mail from Gold Star Securites Inc., International Claims Department 300 2nd St. Midland, Ontario stating I had won $250,000. To claim the winnings, the letter said I should deposit the enclosed check for $4,995, call Kelly Anderson at 905-783-1975 immediately afterward and send $2,995 by Western Union or Moneygram to pay taxes and claim the rest of the winnings. Mary Brown was listed as the Production Manager. The Check is issued from Keybank, 1 C**** Plz, 7th Floor, Portland, ME 04112. The check number is 69240; routing number is 011200608; account number is 0000032424.If you Google the Address on the check of Gold Star Securities Inc...... 14 Baxter Boulevard, Portland, ME 04101.....you will find this to be the address of the Portland Housing Authority. Use the Street View hyperlink to view the sign on the corner of Forest and Baxter.....

I got a check from Gold Star Securities.  They are going to great lengths to trap people.  It's legitimate check paper and I looked up the bank and called, it is a legitimate account number under the name of Gold Star Securities.  I feel bad for the people who are struggling or going through hard times who would attempt to go through this process to receive funds and miss all the red flags accociated with it.  They are really hitting hard this holiday season as a friend of mine recieved a check to be a secret shopper; I also received an email stating they were the FBI.

I got a similar letter and said to do the same from same address. The phone number however was 905/783-2559. Looks real but I think is scam. Mine came in on Nov. 19th 2008. Did you call?
