Leave a CommentYup, we have been getting the same calls; from USA Collections. Just about every day or every other day, saying that we owe $800 for "multiple magazine subscriptions". In the first place, I can barely read, my wife hates magazine subscription salespeople almost as much as she hates Kirby people, and neither of us would have subscribed. She works and only has time to read a couple, that we pay for as we go. They are very nasty and won't listen. We will not be picking up the phone when they call anymore. Also, we'll be reporting them to the FTC and New York BBB. Anyone who gets these calls owes it to themselves to report this scam, as they will be taking advantage of people less savy who will pay them.
Called for Carrie, then **** up wieh I try to tell them that no Carrie lives at this number and they should quit wasting my time as well as theirs.
USA Collection Agency has been calling me since around October 2009 saying that I owe Reader Sevices money too. I never signed anything. My most recent call was 1-15-10. When I asked for their address I was told that they couldn't give it out.I have filed a complaint with FTC.
They call my home every day asking for someone that I have never heard of. I have tried to tell them to remove my phone number that there is no such person here, but they quickly ****up on me. This morning I asked for their phone number, they said they couldn't get incoming calls, then I asked to speak with a manager and a***n, I was ***g up on. I do not, nor did not, have any mag subscriptions, and they are looking for someone that isn't me. I just filed a complaint with the FTC - however the info I was able to supply is limited, since they **** up on me all the time. Weird, normally it is the person owing money that ****s up on the collection agency. This is such a scam.
My situation is basically the same as all of yours. I was so irate that someone actually thought they could scam me out of what I have WORKED for. Get a JOB! I will be filing complaints with anyone who will take one. Your harrassing calls are numbered!
Same as the others. They identified themselves as a collection agency for some generic sounding publisher and said I owed on a contract (a "contract" for magazines? Does this even exist?) for magazine subscriptions dating back to 2006. They wanted to know what I was going to do about it. I told them absolutely nothing, that I had no idea what they were talking about, and all my magazine subscriptions are paid before the magazines arrive so it was not me. (Seriously, what company would continue to send you magazines you have refused to pay for anyway?) They did give an incorrect middle initial and mentioned a mastercard (which I have never owned). When I told them they clearly had the wrong person, they just ***g up. Very rude and not professional at all.
Same basic story as the previous ones. Fotunately for us, my wife has spent 25yrs. working in our District Court system. When threatened with a small claims suit through the court in Boca Raton, Fl., she laughed and her reply to them was..."bring it on, honey"!I spent over 30yrs. in commision sales and one of our unspoken "rules" was "never try to bu***hit a ********ter"!We are filing complaints with our state and the New York state A.G.'s office, and the F.T.C. Suggest others do the same...and be relentless. To those at USA Collections; ***ting seasons coming...accidents happen.
About a year ago I s****ed receiving calls from a man stating the exact same things and said that they would take the fullest legal action. I finally said that I wanted the number to the card that had been used he said he didn't have it but had the last 4 digits and gave me those. I never owned a card with those numbers. I then asked for the name and the number to the company so that I could turn them into the Better Business Bureu. The calls stopped. The begining of this year they are s****ing a***n. Same caim about a magazine subscription that I supposedly stopped paying on. I will do the same things that I did last time. We need them to be found and put out of business so that noone gets taken.
I originally got a call from a nasty man who told me that i owed appx $1800 for "women's package" subscription. The only info he would give me was my phone # and po box #, not even the names of the publications. I'm not much of a reader, so I am not at all likely to sign for a subscription. He would not give me the phone # for his company. If i gave him payment of appx $150 he could close out the account and cancel the debt. I told him that i would do no business with him on the phone, if he wanted me to consider any payment, i sould need to see the contract i had signed. I checked with the better business bureau at the time and really couldn't find out much since he had not given me any info. When I didn't receive anything in the mail I figured that it was a fraud and over.I got a call this morning. Told the gal that i had no account with them, retold the story, she responded saying that this was "very serious" and asked why the company would say that. I said that they were trying to ***** me and I didn't know why. She said that she would investigate and get more info. I asked her if she would send me so****ing in writing and she said she would.I called my congressman's office this morning because I thought the woman this morning had called from my bank, and was very concerned. I will be filing a complaint with the FTC and urge everyone else to, there are people who could be intimidated into paying them so****ing.

I have been harassed by this number every week for up to six months now at this number claiming I owe them money on a magazine subscription which I have never subscribed to. Yet, they claim they have a recording of my voice agreeing to the magazines. I think I know who these people are. They are one in the same company I filed a***nst last year and the year before that for the same scam in NY. They used to be Global Collection Network and prior to that another name but the same phone number. When I filed a claim a***nst them with BBB of NY the calls stopped and resurfaced this year around February. When I asked to hear the recording they made up excuses as to why I can't hear it and that they will take me to court.
I also have been receiveing harrassing phone calls from USA Collections. I was orig****y contacted on thanksgiving saying i owed 2, 600.oo Dollars to United Readers Services however if i paid 499.00 Dollars my debit would be called even and i would also recieve 100.00 as a senior discoount reguardless of my age. when I told them i was unemployed and couldn't do it right that day they told me they would call me back on dec 10th so i could make the Payment. I then recived a call a few days before the 10th by another person from USA COLLECTIONS. when i said i was told i could make it on Dec 10 they said no problem they would call me back. This whole situation didn't seem right to me. So i went on the internet and looked up United Readers Services and got a phone number and Called. The Cunstomer service person asked ame a couple questions and looked up my phone numbers i had had in the past and said they had no record of me and they have problems with USA Collections and i didn't owe them money and they where sorry.Dec 10th Came and the orig**** women from USA collections Called me a***n. When i said i had contacted the company and they have no record of me and told me it was a scam she got very beligerant and Harrasing telling me i was a loser who refused to pay my bills. I should be ashamed of myself, I'm afraid to say i stooped to her level and s****ed yelling and ***g up on her. I a***n called United Readers Services talked to a customer service person was very nice looked up the number that USA collections was calling me on and a***n told me i had no debt with them. I asked the Women if it was true that once they sent a person to collection that they no longer keep any record of the person and she told me no absolutly not we know every one that owes us money. The Women that i spoke with Asked me to please report them to the better business bureau. To day I a***n heard from USA COLLECTIONS and when i told the man on the phone that i had spoke to a women at his company and that i spoke to a person from United Readers Services he proceeded to s**** yelling that i was a Liar repeatedly untill i ***g up on him.
Claim to be a collections agency, but keep ****ing up when I ask for their company's full name and mailing address. No way this is legitimate.
They called me this morning claiming they were a collection agency, that I owned them money from some magazines subscription dating back to 2006, and that unless I paid around $400 now, they would send me to court, where the fees would triple. I don't owe any money to any publishing company of any type, I had a similar call last year. I wish I knew how to take them to justice, for they are very persuasive, and I can imagine they take adventage of some people.
We are also getting the same type of calls from this outfit. They claim my sister, who is mentally challanged, owes them money. They do not have her cell number but are harrassing us for it. Calls are coming in once a week right now and they are also threatning to take us to court. Not sure what legal action we can take to stop this.
I also have been getting harrassing phone calls from this number on and off for a year now. Same old story ... they say I owe money for a magazine subscription. They can't tell me how it was paid for originally or for what magazine, but continue to call and badger me for a credit card number. They have threatened to take me to court. I know what my subsriptions are (and have been) and I am completely up to date paying for my subscriptions. THIS HAS TO BE A SCAM.
My elderly ***her has rec'd several calls on his cell phone from this number demanding payment for past due magazine subsciptions in the name of his deceased spouse (she passed in 2002!). They continue to threaten him stating "we will see you in court". I have repeatedly attempted to contact a person at this number to inquire on my ***her's behalf, though the phone message inbox is always full and no messages could be left. These calls are originating from New York. I will take no further action for resolve unless calls continue, at which point I will engage local law enforcement.
Called my cell and didn't say anything... listened to what I had to say for a minute and then ***g up
Also Claimed we owed money for a magazine subscription! He had my wifes name and claimed to have debit card information. When she insisted they did not..he just ***g up. This person was definitely trying to get credit card info or scam some money! BEWARE!!
Collection agency.
