Caller claiming to be from MSFT asking me to verify information on my PC. Said that he was getting warning signals of an error from my ma****e. Told him that if he is receiving this he should be able to identify my IP address. He said it doenst work that way and pressed me to take action on my ma****e. I told him I wanted a letter from MSFT directly about this. He said "no". I said "if you are MSFT and getting these errors you should be able to verify the purchase date, make and model of my ma****e". After that, he ***g up and now the number is blocked in my phone :)
my caller id says Thomas Anthony. He wanted me to turn on the laptop so he could help me stop the harmful downloads. When I told him it was my kids laptop with a pass code he wanted me to turn on another computer. If the laptop is the one downloading harmful items why would I turn on my desktop. He ***g up
They told me I was a registered user and that I needed to fix my windows version. Once I asked them what the name was they had as the supposed registered user - they ***g up.
Claiming to be from "Microsoft" this time instead of just "Windows" tech' team of some sort "contracted by MS." Attempt of access to home network through "go to web address" scam through web browser. I will research the number and forward it to their security team.
They've called every day for two weeks despite telling them to stop. When I try to place a return call, I get a recording that the number has been disconnected.
I got another "attempt to access private home network/electronic device" just now. Drag them along for the ride - extract information on their "efforts" with you. Have them identify themselves with their name, who they represent/work for ("Windows Technical" team, or relative contractor for "Windows." - There is NO such thing. Microsoft is not setup that way with their security work for their operating system/s, applications, and other services they provide.). The caller is NEVER to be provided with anything real; real name, login credentials, passwords, or anything. Record this information for later representation. If you can find the service provider from the phone number that came in, the service provider usually will have a real legal/security team responsible for a business relationship/transaction/service - swit****g the incoming network access from (India, or wherever) - routing it here in the U.S. - and they will cancel service to the scam artist for breach of contract of some sort. Enough complaints to the BBB or [more importantly] an official U.S. government body taking note that a networking service provider in the U.S. continues ongoing business relationships [providing service] with some dumbf*** in Tim'buk'tu - they could face being shut down themselves. If they are looking for access to ANY content/material/application on a PC and/or electronic device and claim to be Windows, or Microsoft, or anyone else looking to "***n access to your electronics device in your residence, or place of business," you can whistle **** an illegal "computer access attempt" and/or "attempt of access to a private home/business network". That in itself will make a service provider here in the U.S. s*** down both legs when you present certain legal representation verbiage to them as they offer service to someone in India or where ever - not just "a scam artist called trying to get in to my PC." Force the service provider to understand they are routing people with ill intent throughout our free nation. The service provider may be in their business to make a dollar, but when you threaten to take that dollar away and vaporize it - things s**** to shift in the playing field. I am sure there are other legal avenues to pursue as there is always a dollar being directed somewhere at any one time under a table. Finally, I know some of this because I did research an 805 number that came in the other month when my residence got its first "contracted by Microsoft 'Windows Tech' team" call, and I did trace it back to the service provider (undisclosed) and worked with their security department and had the account shut down. Remember a networking security team [a real one] will not disclose anything to you as you work with them - to them, their efforts are strictly legal representation and execution. They're very much like cops - things are on a need-to-know basis in order to "protect and serve." I didn't proof read this much, but I would hope to help those around me with the similar problem today. :)
They wanted to take over my computer for microsoft, but when i said I would have my husband call microsoft directly they said they would be the only ones able to help me. I told them i thought it was strange they called me from this 928 number and wanted to take over my computer. They ***g up on me and called 10 minutes later then a***n this morning.
They called this number, knew my surname, and said that they were calling about my Windows computer. When I didn't respond, they ***g up and wouldn't answer a return call.
