My caller was `****ne`from Texas, an agent of Uniserve, my ISP. We called them 2 weeks ago about weak signals. They couldn`t seem to help from their end, I ended up paying a `computer guru`$250 to get us back online. Now, I`m reading all about how our CRTC in Ca***a is trying to force ``usage billing``, and cutting back on bandwidth and downloads. I keep paying the same or greater payments every month, for service which is declining rapidly --- but what`s the alternative? To join Bell or Rogers, the pirates?
Did not mention company name, but provided a call back number which belongs to Uniserve. Message was about Credit Card expiry.
I got a call from 949-268-9100. They said my credit card had expired for my Uniserve account. They did not tell me a call back number and I don't have an account with Uniserve.
It is from the US calltekcentre that provides (useless) technical support for Uniserve Communications which is based in New Westminster, BC. I had to find a local telephone number for Uniserve, punch in anything at the Company Directory prompt, and finally reached someone in the local office. That person got the problem resolved in 10 minutes: my email was not working for five days and I spoke to six different "clerks" at the US calltekcentre and two "supervisors" who couldn't get the problem fixed. These companies have no respect for their customers it seems, they just pay a company to answer calls and put off people rather than deal with real technical problems. Independent ISPs may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for...
Weird -- a few hours earlier, I called the local ISP for technical support. They took the details, and said that it would take a few hours to fix, and that they would call me back.Well, they did fix the problem, and they did call me back, to say that they fixed it (which they did),but the caller-ID for the call-back was 949-268-9100 (Orange County, California). The weird part is that I'm in Ca***a, not the USA, and it was the same person calling me back as who I talked to, a few hours earlier.
Don't use Direcpath internet or Satellite Service! It's unreliable and may take a week or 2 to have a technician out for repairs. I transferred to Dish network
