A solicitor, Angie S., called to say she works for Merchant and wants to provide a "free line item comparison" with our current merchant processor and claimed not to be a solicitor.  Angie setup an appointment for someone to stop by our store and asked me to send recent merchant statements for their review and ****ysis.First of all, There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.  Second, all merchant processors provide a detailed ****ysis of each fee type and any decent processor will provide a similar ****ysis while you are their customer.  And finally, s****ing out with these con techniques don't lead to lasting business relationships.

I got a call from Rory Gregory who said he represented (our) merchant services and would I fax a copy of our most recent statement so that John Rackmyer, who will be stopping by on next tuesday could get us a better visa rate?..  I called my mercent services and they do not do that kind of business (contacting customers to get a better rate) and if someone shows up to call and they will verify if that person is in their employ.  This guy was NOT.  Do not fax your account statement as your id number is on that, etc.    And do not verify their integreity by calling a number provided by the (possible crook) caller.

Called to solicit merchant account.. at first they seemed to pretend they were our existing merchant provider until I asked if we have a previous business relationship. Sending someone over to our store...
