This solicitor ((954) 358-2224) was calling on behalf of the Davie Police; and so, I just called Davie Police Dept. from their website contact number. They****ured me it was LEGIT and they are using a company to do there solicitations.

I knew people who did this and the reason they come to your home is they are hoping for cash instead of a check. Wtth a check they only get 70 to 80% of the money collected with some of the rest going to the charity. With cash they keep all 100% and keep calling you because they know they have a ****er.

Stop all the crying people. They do sent someone to your home to pickup the money. That way you know they are local and real.Charitable solicitors are exempt from the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Do Not Call Registry. That the law.They do not call during the day. Their hours for home call are 5:30pm to 9:00pm during the weekdays.They raise money for the FOP not the PD.They have call me and I ask them in a nice voice to remove me from their call list. No more call, they told me 10 other FOP are calling from outside of South Florida seeking money. Those who use the telephone to raise money for charities. These telemarketers must:    * Make all calls between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.    * Promptly disclose the name of the organization and state that the purpose of the call is to ask for a charitable contribution    * Tell the truth and avoid misleading statements during the call.    * Honor all requests to be placed on a "do not call" list.So pick up the phone and ask them to "please remove me from your calling list".

thank you for posting these messages! we also got phone calls from these people. the man who called was very aggressive and said he was collecting money for a police organization. when we questioned his legitimacy, he basically threatened us by saying, "what if i send a car out there and a guy with a badge to pick up the money?". unacceptable. tell your friends about this, as i believe some people will just fall for the scam or just be so intimated that they might hand over money. it's just wrong.   thank you.

Same thing about receiving constant calls and no one answers when calling back. I will not answer the calls.I am investigating this phone number via landline companies to see if this creep's phone number is listed with them. I know it is a landline phone as I did reverse number lookup, but whitepages.com says the number is unpublished.  This kind of harrassment should be easy for us to stop after 9/11, but the system still doesn't work!!

This same number has been calling me too almost everyday since July. No one is ever there expect for one time I answered and a man said he was doing fund raising for the Davie Police Department. This obviously isn't the Davie police department calling us. It's a fraud.

I just read your comment.  Same goes here.  The only thing they said different, is that they are collecting for a fund drive for the Davie police.  I called Davie police and the advised me that it is a fraud.  They dont have a fund drive.  They don't raise money that way and if they did it would be advertised.

I get phone calls from this number every single day, and about 85% of the time, they just **** up. The other times, a guy rudely asks for the owner of the house, and when I ask who's calling, he says "Greg" and swiftly ****s up. There was one single time I got on and the guy told me that he was with the Ft. Lauderdale Police Dept., and that they were doing a fund raiser of some sort. Needless to say, I called the Ft. Lauderdale Police Dept., and they have no idea of any fund raiser.

They call all the time, we dont answer and when I called to see who they are, they dont answer!
