It's to add your number to an inmates calling list. But if you call it back, some nasty**** chat line has hijacked it. I have no idea how they did it, but they sure did..gotta love the system...smh. As much as GTL charges, you'd think they could afford to keep this number clear of a *** line.

Not a scam. Receiving calls from an inmate in Merced County CA, even though the number is from Texas.

This is an inmate telephone service.. Calls can come from inmates nationwide. The company who provides the services is located in Texas. However, that does not mean the inmate is calling from texas. I recently received a call from an inmate in pennsylvania.

BUT I tried to set up google voice for my guy to call me, it won't work, call strts to cme thru and then cuts off. now this number strts calling me and I a cept it and it won't go thru, just cuts off. its aggervating becuz they won't let the inmates call cell phones theu global tel link, the prisons phone system. :( loved ones, like me will try anything just to hear their voice <3

i got a call and it was from a imate at the ***nchville correnctional facility and i dident except it i do know somone there and when im in bed i dont answer my cell at all and if he wants to call back when it gets moring by all means he can.

I got a call from this #. The voicemail was a guy saying*****o several times. I called this # back, spoke to an operator. He told me where it was from and who called me. I didn't know the guy, prob a wrong number.

it is a nation wide inmate number for people who are locked up it is not spam and just because it say Texas does not mean that's where the are at my boys calls me everyday from this number and he is in Indiana

This is NOT a collect call, its pre paid, i think that pcs from dallas, tx has the monopoly on this service for the whole country. Anyone in any ststr in county jail who wants to make a phone call thats NOT collect has to use this service. Answer the call, it takes a minute of listening to the automated recording before being connected to the inmate but u should accept the call. There is no charge and the person calling is using precious minutes and phone time to call YOU.

I don't know anyone and have not authorized anyone who is incarcerated to call my cell phone collect. But I am gettimg these calls repeatedly and I am FURIOUS because I called the number back and can't get a live person in order to tell them DO NOT USE this number. Help! What can I do??

This is just an inmate calling on a pre paid calling card in some cases i think they just dial the wrong number if you accept the call YOU do not get charged the inmate is simply calling you on a calling card there is no SCAM here!!!

We have a friend in an Idaho State prison and he called from this number. The recording said from so and so from Idaho State prison using a prepaid debit calling card so we would not be charged.

I got a call from this number a while ago, and it left me some message about an inmate. I immediatley blocked the number, because I don't know anyone who is in jail.

Mine said it was from Kern County California.  Also received calls from prisons on another number.  I have had to block both of them at the Verizon website.  I have called back the referral number and they claim to take me off the list, but then 2 weeks later, it s****s a***n.  There should be a tort lawsuit filed a***nst the company.  There are millions of these calls made every week, I should think.

******* says it is not a collect call --- the one i got was **** sure a collect call from a female -- i did not accept and ***g up immediately ! i am convinced that it is some sort of scam !! att or w***ver is responsible for this number should shut it down ! how many unsuspecting people accept these calls for no telling what the cost!!!!!!!!  i am going to try to contact these people and raise***** !!!!!!!

There really isn't a scam here, these are calls from a pre-paid system available to prisoners. They are NOT collect calls. If you don't know anyone in prison, there is an option (I forgot what it was) to block all future calls to your number from that facility.

I received a phone call from this number and said that I had accepted financial responsibility  for an inmate.I do not know any inmate in jail/prison and will not be financially responsible for them either.

This phone number appears to be from a San Diego County Jail from the recording but the phone number is from Dallas, Texas.  This is impossible.  When I first picked up the phone at 3:24am I heard a voice say "hold on" then the recording from the PCS Collect Call phone s****ed.  It appears someone is trying to get you to accept the Collect Call on your dime so they can talk to the inmate.  This would be a SCAM.
