Leave a Commenti got the same call today asked for my boss i said he wasn't here. He asked if he had a voice mail. It says Generational Eq on the caller ID. Good thing i found this website thank you everyone.
Got same call today. Retired Orthopedic Surgeon from Dallas Texas. Bored in that situation. Son-in-law is now Division Chief at Delotte. Wants me to call regarding "Corporate Interest that might be valuable to you". Wish I could upload the voicemail file here! Stay away!
They have a woman calling now who is in Mergers and Acquisitions. They were setting up a meeting with business owners in our town. Small town of about 3000 people, get real. My family owns a business in town, we have not heard anything. Her name is Lorraine. She told me to let my employer decide if he was interested or not. NOT a good move.
Yeah, he got past my Admin clerk. Same MO as everyone has stated...SCAM. I didn't take his call, but she wrote everything down like ****ing on his every word.
Same msg. left in my voice mailbox requesting return call from company president, for whom he asked by name, with close to correct*****unciation (not easy to do!). Said he was retired orthopedic surgeon but found retirement boring now that his "wife could no longer travel". Said he had a "proprietary" interest in our business (information technology) had important info that could be very valuable, etc., etc. Instant red flags!!
He called today and gave his name as Al Hartwell. Said he knew owner. Same ""proprietary interest in my business" s***ch. Took number but will not give message to owner.
Same MO as above, retired Orthopedic Surgeon, brother in law from Deloitte & Touche referred him to us (Apparently he looked at our client testimonials on our web site and picked Deloitte to make him sound legit) Looking for opportunities in the softwre business, blah blah blah. Sounded fishy to me so one search on google and the phone # showed me this. Hopefully they will lock this guy up at some point soon. Dang Scammer!
So****ing smells funny in Texas. If these types of people spent as much time running legitimate business's as they do trying to scam folks, they'd make more money, sleep better at night and the make the world a better place.
Got a call from this guy he used the words "proprietory interest" in my business. I sell pipes and tobacco products... Will not call him back after reading this for sure. The caller ID shows "generational eq"
Got a call and he left a message. seems like he c****es his message a little each time so it applies to the company he was calling
Received same call today. He left a message for me (owner) almost word for word as above. Staying away. Thanks for adding him to this site!
This guy has a long history of some serious problems. Stay far away, I'm so glad I decided to look him up, Peter above listed a link, check it out. Thanks Pete.
Asked for owner by name. Left message Bruce Hinkley about a "corporate proprietary interest in building materials."
All the above happened. The funny thing was I was trying to be nice and not **** up on him, but I knew it was not anything I was interested in. He was trying to set up a meeting with me and other business owners in my area. So, they could explian to me what is happen with the new tax codes and laws that are happening. That way if I wanted to sell or have other corporations invest in my business, I would know who to call. I have had other calls like this in the past, and I have learned one thing over the years: IF THEY ARE CALLING OUT OF THE BLUE, THEY ARE NOT WORTH TALKING TO!Thank you, ***d
Same deal as everyone else here. Has anyone read his Bio? Go to: http://www.vanweyjohnson.com/CM/InTheNews/Dr-Bruce-Hinkleys-Career.aspIf this is the same person, I suggest steering clear. If someone different, whoda t***k it?
gave his name as Bruce Hinkley
Same MO as the previous comments. Surgeon from Dallas, proprietory interest, asked for owner by name (except he*****ounced it completely wrong).
Caller Asked for Owner by name ( he evidently did not know she was silent partner)Said he was offering "Corporate Propritary interest" in marine buisness and was third party representing a possable joint venture.throws out lots of big catch words with no substance. When asked for his company name he became defensive and quickly ended the conversation.Smelled Bad of Scam Beware!
Caller asked to speak to the company owner by name. When asked if I could say who was calling the he said a name and then said "Oh, he probably won't remember me, my wife says I'm very forgettable. Tell him that I'm the retired Orthopedic Surgeon from Dallas, that should trigger his memory." Came across as if he was an old friend passing through town a***n and wanting to meet back up just like last time.(Boss never forgets a name or face, and has never heard of this man) Danced around every question like a politician at a news conference, slick and providing a lot of folksy friendliness, without actually saying anything. If this guy was after a legitimate job he'd go far in government.
Block this caller- very rude and inconsiderate.
