This caller has been calling all hours of the day harrassing by calling back to back to back btwn 7am and 8pm
They call on my cell phone. They asked me to hold for a paralegal. The paralegal gets on, asks if I am so & so, I say yes, then asks if I reside at such & such, a***n I say yes. Then he asks me for my social security number. I told him right out that I wasn't giving him that information. I told him that if he could tell me what it is, I'd confirm for him. He says he can't do that because he doesn't know if I actually am who I say I am. I said that we are at an impasse because I'm not giving him any additional information. I ***g up. They keep calling, but I'm not answering.
It's Pressler & Pressler, a slimy law firm that buys bad debt. See the very accurate and informative post below from an attorney (who should post his contact number b/c consumers need representation.) Pressler went to court and got a judgement on this 4 year old debt that I had settled with a credit card company. NJ judges love corporate america! Pressler then took my checking account. I s****ed the process to file for bankruptcy...and they were notified by my attorney that same day, about a month ago. TODAY, Pressler calls a***n.
They call and say*****o then **** up. I called back but I get a fast busy.
02:36 AM IRAQ TIME. I AM A UNITED STATES MARINE WHO IS SERVING OVER SEAS. I HAVE A PROGRAM CALLED SKYPE ON MY LAPTOP, SO I CAN KEEP IN TOUCH WITH MY FAMILY AT HOME, AND I HAVE A REGULAR PHONE NUMBER THAT I PAID FOR. HOW THE***** DID THEY GET MY NUMBER, WHICH IS A INTERNET NUMBER.. EVEN WHEN IM IN IRAQ!! THEY SOME HOW STILL MANAGE TO CALL!!!!
This is a collection agancy. They are Pressler and Pressler based in New Jersey. They are relentless but know that you do have rights. A collection CANNOT call your place of employment once you tell them that you are not alowed to receive phone calls at your place of employment. If they do call you after you have told them not to,they can recieve upto a $1000.00 fine for everytime they call you. This is one of the laws written by the Federal Trade Comission (FTC)Go to www.ftc.gov for more information about your rights. You can also settle with these agencies. Industry averages today for negotiated debt by a debt settlement company or law firm is 30-42 cents on the dollar. That means if you owe $10,000.00 you should only offer them $3000.00 to $4200.00. Each agency is different but keep this in mind. When the original creditor sold this debt to a collection agency, that agency purchased what I call BAD DEBT. These agencies by this debt for PENNIES on the dollar and then come after you for the full amount plus interest, penalties, late fees and attorney fees. So now that $10,000.00 that you owed is now roughly $12,000.00 They usually buy that debt for an average of 6-10 CENTS on every dollar you owe. So that $10,000.00 balance was purchased for an average of $600.00 to $1000.00. Keep alll this in mind when speaking to them. Good luck my freinds. By the way I am an attorney who negotiates with creditors and collection agencies on a daily bases.
