Just called alltel, which is my provider, they said to just reply to the txt with STOP and it shouldn't charge you anything. This is very confusing and I am not sending this number to anyone else.

Just called the dam number. After I hit pound it went into some advertising message about ringtones for 9.99 and said it would help the cause if I coughed up the money so I ***g up. That's when I got a message to reply y to confirm sendme ringtone club for 9.99 a month. W***ver Ringtone Club is they **** for this scam.

If you check with "Show****efacts.org" you will see that he has spoken with the president of "Humor Hotlines" who usually does humerous phone polls. The president says this is NOT one of those, thus the reason he did not include his company name with the text or number. It is a "poll" to get to 1 million votes and supposedly they will send a pe***ion to the government when that number is reached. As long as the caller does not choose any option other than "#" at the end he/she will NOT be charged. YET this company is NOT a politcal advocate group, has no relationship with marijuana advocacy prior to this stint. This does NOT mean they will or will not turn in a pe***ion. I will say that I believe I have heard previously that Obama mentioned disagreeing with the legalization of marijuana and decriminalizing it. So I would wonder if it would make a difference. Instead try sending statistics, letters and pe***ions formed yourself to your local and state politicians and Obama himself. That would be more likely to have a reaction that this number!

One more thing...since they are "tracking it by phone number" your phone number is going to wind up on a big list.  No worries about voting for legalization, but big lists of active numbers get sold.  And then you get nuisance calls.

They track it by the phone number you are calling from. It is not a scam, however it doesn't go directly to congress. The company that created it plan on bringing it to the attention of the congress once they reach over a million. You can also vote online where there is a tracker of how much further to go. I don't like ****, I don't smoke it and I still voted to legalize only because it isn't dangerous, I'd rather a ****** be in jail than a****head, and CA needs the money. It could really help out a lot of problem in the long run. Think about...cheaper college, better roads, more police, cleaner beaches...all these things cost money and the money the'd make off **** could fix CA. How the***** would this be legit?  Can someone explain how they verify that "registered voters" are the ones calling, or that people don't call in multiple times?  NO.It's a schtick!  They are taking advantage of all the passionate people about cannabis and playing on their emotions.  Pretty smart marketing gimic, but dishonest and not sincere at all.  Making quick bucks!

The only reason why it charges you is because you went way beyond just the voting part and entered the drawing to win $50,000.00, it is a 9.99 a month charge! so that is the reason why your phone was charged, all you have to do is wait for the lady to stop talking and press # . have a good day, oh and dont buy the ringtones either thats just another reason for them to charge you! they gotta pay for it somehow right?

I agree kremit. This is a scam. My friend sent me the number to call, and told me to help him legalize marijuana. I figured ok Id pitch in, so I called and pressed the ****on that said that i want to sign a pe***ion or so****ing to legalize ****. This was a day or two ago and now I have a charge on my phone bill, which i have never had before. I am positive this is what did it. I have also been receiving a lot of 'call and ****up' calls on my phone which i think might be telemarketers.
