I received calls from this number twice yes****ay but caller did not leave a message. Since I used to work for a division of AMEX, I have a feel for the way they conduct busienss and this seemed a little off.  WARNING:  the person who answers identifies himself as a representative of American Express OPEN and there are beeps in the background as if the call is being recorded.

I got the same calls 3x wanting the name of the business etc. posing as AmEx wanting info!!!! I just pretended to be a really really old man that could not hear what they were saying, over and over a***n kind of like Billi Crystal plays the old man!!!! I had fun, drove them nuttttts!!!!! Ha!!! Ha!!!

Just got a call from this number, exactly as "NUNYA **** Business" reported.  Scammer.  She tried several ways to get my info.

Caller said they were from AMEX verifying account information.  I asked them what information THEY had and I would let them know if it was correct or not.  They ***g up

Today I got a call from someone who said she was “from American Express” and it was not a sales call. She wanted to “verify my account.” She asked me my business name. I asked “What information do you have?” She then stated a business name that I have never registered with American Express, so I knew immediately the call was not all that it seemed. After ****ing up I looked up the number – 201-373-8406 – and it comes from Intelius, a company which sells personal details and private information about people to other people. The person on the phone did not say she was calling from Intelius on behalf of American Express. I believe the practice of not clearly and accurately identifying yourself when you call is illegal (at least it was when I worked as manager of a call center previously).

I get calls from this number every day.  Today they attempted to leave a message.  It was a male voice, even my answering ma****e ***g up on them.

Caller said they were from American Express verifying information on my business.She wasn't verifying info she was seeking info.I asked for the number and have been calling them back every chance I get (while wat****g TV, reading the paper, working online) and then I set the phone down until they **** up.  I figure it will tie up their s***my phone lines and give them a taste of their own medicine….and it's fun.Caller ID: 201-373-8406 "AMERICAN EXPRESS"

Today I got a call from someone who said she was “from American Express” and it was not a sales call. She wanted to “verify my account.” She asked me my business name. When I stated, "I don't have a business"… She then stated a business name with my last name incorporated into it that I have never heard of or registered with American Express, so I knew immediately the call was not all that it seemed.After ****ing up I looked up the number – 201-373-8406 – and it comes from Intelius, a company which sells personal details and private information about people to other people. The person on the phone did not say she was calling from Intelius on behalf of American Express. This is illegal.

Caller wanted information on owner of the company. I told her I preferred not to say.

Received a call that came up unknown.  Caller noted she was from American Express Open and wanted to verify our business information.  I asked to have her number so I could confirm.  She gave me 201-373-8406.  I specifically asked if she were calling from American Express Blue and not as some third party scam company.  She noted that she WAS indeed calling on behalf of American Express Blue.  Now seeing that this is not the case...

I got a call today and lady said she was from "Open AMEX" wanting to update my business information. I told her I do not have a AMEX account and she replied she knew that. I asked her then why is she calling me? She said she is updating my business information and she worked for the card company offering me a special deal and a***n ask me to confirm my information. Got a call stating they are from American Express wanting to verify my business account information. I don't have a business American Express Card!!! I asked for a call back number to call at a later stage.

It is a scam - the try to get your persona or business contact details.

I received call from this number and woman said that it is from American Express wanting to update their contact information for my business. It can't be American Express because I don't accept this credit card in my business. Obviously it is a scam.

Same as everyone else: multiple calls, no messages were left, and when I called the number back, I was on hold for 20 minutes before I ***g up. I will block them from my phone too.

Same people called as on my report above for 28 January.  This time I did not pick up, and I let my answering ma****e take it.  Here is the curious part, which I got on my ma****e: The first few words were their automated recording, interrupted by a human voice saying "Hello"; it took me only a few seconds to realize that that human voice was my own, seemingly recorded by them when I picked up on the 28 January call. These people are weird, and I have blocked their number permanently.

Called my landline today.  Caller ID says American Express. Usually I won't pick up calls like this when I do not know the number or do not expect a call.  I picked this one up. Caller immediately ***g up. That was all.

I never pick up calls from "Unknown". I get calls from this number very often and there's never a message. I'm not sure why these types of operations can't be tracked down, put out of business and penalized.

Me a***n. I just thought I'd add that I don't actually have an American Express card but I do receive lots of offers from them for my business.

It was American Express wanting to update their contact information for my business. She did have the correct business name. I had to repeat twice that I wasn't going to give them updated information and requested that they remove me from their call list. We'll see if they do......

Called two times and did not leave a message. I guess whatever they are calling about isn't very important. I tried calling back and was immediately put on hold. They did not identify who they were.

Someone keeps calling from this number. I never answer it and they never leave a message. I looked it up and other people are having the same problem with this number. I want them to stop calling me and wasting my minutes on my phone and my time.

201-373-8406,(based on Internet Seach), linked to the Law Office which may do commerial business with DEBT COLLECTION COMPANIES.  Since the (DEBT COLLECTOR), is a CLIENT, they are not subject to " Rules for debt collector". Got the call from this too, just wanted to see if it came up anywhere else.

This number keeps coming up on my 12 year old's cell phone.  She never answers it, and they never leave a message.  I finally decided to call them and tell them to stop, that apparently they have the wrong number.  When I called, I was on hold for almost 20 minutes.  That's when I decided to go online and look up the number and found this information.  So, needless to say, I ***g up as no one ever answered.
