Leave a CommentI also received the same voice mail message everyone listed below from "Officer Julie Smith of the IRS." The message ends with "Goodbye and take care." Thank you for posting the link to the website for filing a complaint. It worries me to think that some trusting individual has or will give personal information to these scammers. Thank you to all who take a stand a***nst this type of crime and spend a few minutes to file the formal complaint.
I received an IRS scam call from this number this morning at 8:18am. The partial voicemail was from "Julie Smith." When I returned the call, I refused to give my name. After my third refusal to give my name, the man on the phone said that he hoped I "have a good lawyer who will bail you out of jail." I have since filed a complaint through the FTC website.
This is the link to complete the Complaint Form: https://econsumer.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
Received the same call stating IRS calling...thanks for the message and I'll report to the Federal Trade Communications
I received a call from 202-241-1178 as well. I did not recognize the number so I did not answer. A partial voicemail was left saying that I should not ignore the call or action was going to be taken. The IRS does not operate this way. This is a scam. I would have been contacted by mail. I found, through this and other sites, that the call is a scam. Let's get these guys! File fraud complaint with the IRS (http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/) and the Federal Trade and Communications (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/) If we don't, others may actually get scammed.
Very scary. Knew my name and previous address. Read an affidavit claiming I owed $6000 in taxes. Would be arrested if I didn't pay. Where should I report this?
I received a call from 202-241-1178 as well. I did not recognize the number so I did not answer. A partial voicemail was left saying that I should not ignore the call or action was going to be taken. I called back from a company phone. The person on the other end said they were from the IRS. I ***g up as my taxes have been settled much earlier in the year and if there were issues, I would have been contacted by mail. I found, through this and other sites, that the call is a scam. Just received second call - automated message - same as the ones below "Time sensitive" from the office of Julie Smith with a warning not to ignore or they would take action ....
I got the same two fake IRS calls.
Got a call yes****ay from them and a***n to day. It's an automatic message saying time sensitive to call the IRS back. I tried calling back and a ma****e came on saying the office is closed to leave a message. I did not. It didn't even say it was the IRS office. Think this is a scam! I will not answer it the next time they call a***n!!!
Recieved 2 calls from this number.....one its an automated voice telling to me call Julie Smith at this number before they take action...two..we dont owe IRS and if we did shouldn't we receive some type of notification, not an automated dialer saying call back???????
Received a voice mail from 202-241-1178, threatening that we should not ignore this very important, time-sensitive, call from the IRS. I have not called back because I do not believe the IRS would leave voice-mails of this nature. Got to be a scam.

Got a very scary, harrassing call from 202-241-1178 this morning. HEAVY Middle Eastern accent (*expletive* towel heads tryin to take us down any way they can!). VERY threatening. When I said that the IRS doesn't discuss such matters over the phone and would send this type of information via certified postal mail and asked for his full name and Federal ID # (as I suspected this was a scam), he said "if you do not wish to talk to me, you can speak with the police. They will be there in less than two hours to arrest you. You will be in jail for a minimum of 10 years for IRS tax evasion. I did some research and it all led to sites where others have reported this -- as a scam. The phone number is from a WIRELESS phone (don't think IRS agents use those, either, lol). The carrier is YMAX COMMUNICATIONS CORP. - DC ... a known scamming company (wow, lots of scams!). I hope these *expletive* are arrested. Nearly gave my poor, disabled husband a heart attack. LITERALLY!
IRS scam call do not give them any info. They state they are from the IRS
