Leave a CommentCaller mentioned a bank name and a certified check waiting there for me. I knew it was a scam and ***g up. Reported it to the bank.
I also received the same calls. It makes me very uncomfortable because he was calling my cell phone, which is unlisted. I was calling him back because he said "certified check" and named a bank. While I was calling I was googling the # and this came up. So I ask if this was a scam. He said "no, if you thought that then why'd you call?" Then gave the line of being a sweepstake and I won $400K. I said I looked up the number and he said I was "tormented" and ***g up on me.Who do I report this to?
he called my mom and said they were from New York so i googled rhe number and realized it was a Washington area code. i called them and pretended to be someone else and played their game and finally told him i knew he was a fraud, he was not happy
I received the same call. The message sounds a lot like the email scams that hit your mailbox each day. He has a heavy foreign accent and uses terms like certified check, the Federal Reserve and delivery by the United States Postal Service. Thanks, Julie, for the heads up. I was tempted to call to make sure this was or wasn't related to family business. Glad to have avoided that conversation!
This is a sweepstakes scam. A Christopher Banks who is mis-representing a company called American Sweepstakes Promotions is calling people and telling them that they have won huge sums of money and all they have to do is pay upfront 5% of the winnings. American Sweepstakes Promotion has verified that they are not a part of this as I called the number this this company has listed on their web site. Do not pay anything to them. Money never, never has to be paid upfront for a sweepstakes or any other contest. NEVER. Mr. Banks or whatever names he uses, has an argument for any question. He can sound convincing except the upfront payment has to be paid. This is NOT TRUE.The Attorney General's Office in the State of Minnesota says this is a scam. DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT TO WIN MONEY---EVER
