My mother received a call today (8/12/10) from a man saying that he was an agent with the Federal Trade Commission and that she had been awarded $350,000 from Random House. "They" had been trying to reach her for a month. The man identified himself as Dan Lindel. He gave her the federal trade commission's website to give himself authenticity. He wanted her to pay 1% of the award. When she declined, he said that maybe he could have it taken out of the check and wanted her to call him back.

The same message from this person Saying that I will receive 7000 Into my account, But first I have to western union 120 dollars To them first. Its got to be a scam. They said the money would be used to help homeless kids like me LOL... good luck to all the greedy out there!!!  ;)

I got a call from that # and I was told that I have been approved for a grant of $7000 and they gave me a grant id # to call a guy name Richard and I did call,  I told him that this sound like a scam and hug up.

i  got a call from a andy richard he gave me a call saying there where going to give me 7000 from the goverment but i had to pay them over western union a 100 dollers and theyd wire 7000 to me, i told him to take a 1000 and give me 6000 and he said were not allowed to do that we need your money too and god very mad when i told them he was from egypt, dont fall for this scam youll lose your money theyd have your information and youll be *****ed.

They called me and identified themselves as the US Grants Commision. They said I had been awarded $7000 in grant money not to be repayed to the government for paying my taxes on time and having no criminal history. The money was supposedly going to be wired to my bank account from the US FEDERAL RESERVE BANK in New York. He then informed me that I would have to donate $100 to a charity that benefits third world countries. He said to go to a western union and wire the money after which I would receive the $7000 within 45 minutes. SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

As soon as he ***g up on me when I told him I though it was a scam and I called him a crook, I went onto the FTC (Federal trade commision) web site http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/phonefraud/index.shtml and reported the incident. Anyone getting this call should do this as well.

I got the same call. The only things they asked of me were to verify my name and address and what my birth date was. You can get birth dates off of face book or even public records will have them listed. I hope you did not give them anything other than this.

these people are scaaming you to  wire them money western union over seas and proming a loan !!!!!! this is bu***hit

i got a called from jaqueline smith she said i got grand approval from from united state treasury in washington dc my grand approval # was HF155... her i.d.#03865 im a idiot

Frauds

Got a call from a person who said her name was Jaquelline Smith says to be with the United States Treasury Grant Dept at Washington DC, that I had been chosen to recieve a 7000 grant because I pay my taxes and have no criminal record and to call this 202-407-7229 for approval I did give them some of my information, and now I feel like a fool.  I hope I haven't done anything really ******.

They called me up and told me about free money and want a processing fee for ridiculous.i called grants.gov and they told me its fraud !!!. If anyone get a call from anyone claiming to be giving out grant CALL THIS NUMBER 1-800-518-4726 .
