I called back and they wanted to know the number I was calling from. I wouldn't give it out and asked who they were and they hung up. SCAM!!!!!
This number left a message that they are calling from the IRS and its important to call back. When I called back the number is always busy!!!
This number called yesterday.. Claiming to be the IRS.. They wanted CASH wired to them within the hour. When asked how we know for sure they are the IRS, they responded with "I never asked for your bank info" eventually hanging up on us.
They are scammers and they are not for real. Do not give personal information to them: one call: Ask for a call back number and employee badge number. Contact the IRS to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you. If you determine the person calling you is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you, call them back. Letter or notice via paper mail: Contact the IRS to determine if the mail is a legitimate IRS letter. If it is a legitimate IRS letter, reply if needed. Report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration if the caller or party that sent the paper letter is not legitimate.
