One of the many numbers they call you by. As the guest stated on Dec 10th, the claim to be part of a sweepstakes and tell you that you will receive 2 magazines and a watch. You will need ot pay for 2 more magazines, a cost of about $50.00. They will not stop calling you. I have gotten about 5-10 calls a day from 8 in the morning to 10 at night.
Male called stating that a magazine subscription that I has a year ago was actually for a 5 year contract. They asked numerous questions including demographic, married, how long have i been employed, household income, years at current residence. When i informed the man that the subscription i had was over and that the account had been cancelled, he stated that I was under obligation to pay for 36 more months. The man convinced me that I did in fact need to pay and stated that I needed to talk to his supervisor. His supervisor came on the line and had my name, address and phone number. She told me she would send a bill but I asked to do automatic payments (my bad). The woman took my debit card number, expiration date and back 3 numbers of my card. She said that the original amount owed would be 36 months at 69.90 a month. But as I was doing automatic payments, it would be for 30 months at 59.90. My wife came home after i spoke with the teo people and I informed her of what happened. She called the reference number tat they gave: 1 800-304-8567 and spoke with Samantha. Samantha stated that I had no account on file and that the people that we spoke with were not truthful. She said that if we called back in 3 days (it takes 3 days to process new orders... that's what she said), she would ensure that we were not charged. She said that they do not ask for account numbers and that we were under no obligation to pay anything. After my wife spoke with Samantha, I called the 205-267-6836 number and no one answered. I called my bank and cancelled my card.
Received a call from this number, stating that I was a finalist in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes, then they said that I had won their daily prizes they give away , It was a 300.00 gas card, the lady wanted a credit card number , the receipt was my entry into the pch sweepstakes, I said , well you already told me I was a finalist , she ***g up.
A fraudulent number...they claim to be part of a sweepstakes or selling magazines, but do not give them any of your information! Their calls occur at all hours of the day, several times a day.
i also just got a call from this number about 1 hour ago. seems super fishy to me... he told me he was from publisher's clearing house, but he became very agitated when i resisted answering any of his questions. but knew a lot about me already... he read me my name, address, phone number, etc.
I actually just recieved a call from this number tonight. I've been recieving calls from this number at random times, but this one I actually caught. It was 9pm. I answered and they asked if I were *my name*. I replied "who is this"? The woman gave me a name I can't remember, then asked me to confirm my name a***n. I said not until she tells me who she is. She said she was from some "reading company", then asked my name a***n. Well right as I raised my voice and said "I WILL NOT GIVE MY NAME UNTIL YOU TELL ME WHAT THIS IS REGARDING" she ***g up on me. So that made me curious, so I googled the number hoping it would bring up some information. Now after seeing these other posts, I would really like to figure out who these people are. It's just rediculous
Received a call from the number 205-267-6832 on my work line. They came across as a magazine company based in Florida, saying they're going to give me a discount on a magazine subscription that I have. They said that customers from the state I live in had been calling and complaining about the state of their orders, saying they've not been receiving some of their magazines, or that they have been delivered in poor condition. The rep said a list of magazines that I "have been receiving", though it was completely inaccurate. He then handed me over to his supervisor to grade his performance, and the supervisor proceeded to say they are going to give me a "deal" by cutting down my 36 month subscription down to 30 months, and also telling me they'd give me a deal on the monthly subscription of $59.99 vs. $79.99. I do currently have a deal with a REAL magazine company (out of New York) with a set monthly price. While explaining this to him, he became irritated that I would not accept his "bar***n". Ultimately, he said they were going to mail an "updated magazine" list to me, to either upgrade or c****e my current subscription. I called the company I have the current subscription with, and the person I spoke with said they have no affiliation with each other, and that it is indeed a scam.
Rachel, best thing you can do is tape the call.,,if you have for ex. an answering ma****e that can tape calls tape it,, this company's job is to take $$ from you and run. dont give any information but you can contact the www.FTC.com they will help****ist you on finding this company and also try to find them thru the www.BBB.com see what company it is.. but without solid proof of who they are will be hard that is why you need to read between the lines when they call get names company name what mags you are getting,, is there any backround noise does it sound like a cell phone, how many times do they call in a day or week,,get as much as you can and post it online here or the other sites like a suggested! If you also have a real magazine company you are working with or worked with contact them see if they will help resolve this matter for you.
I am still being harrassed by this so called magazine company requesting my credit card information to pay off what they claim is owed for a subscription that i supposedly have with them although i have never ordered from or heard of them. The last time i was contacted though, they must have forgotten to block their number because the TN of 205-267-6832 came up. The name the guy gave me that was "handling my acct" was Christopher Watson and gave a phony account number and an even phonier "800" number that turned out to be a consumer beverage number. Needless to say, I have never given this a**hole any information but find it unbelievable he still calls several times every other day with the same song and dance but refuses to give me any other information that is useful. I would like to report this kind of harrassment but dont even know where to s****. If you have any other people who have contacted you, please let me know. Thanks!
The caller called for my wife who said that he was from a magazine company that was sending magazines to my wife. My wife never ordered the magazines in question and has been harassed for some time by this magazine company. I have reported this company to the Naval Investigative Service (NIS)because they fraudulently took money out of my credit union account.
