Leave a CommentI got a call from someone saying they were with Regions bank, and that they were confirming that a debit card that had just been used was mine and that I had authorized the use. The card was mine, but I hadn't authorized it's use, so the person told me they would cancel the card and issue me a new one. They wouldn't give me their name, or tell me who had tried to take a payment using the card. I went online and did a reverse lookup on the phone number and it was for an unknown party in Birmingham Alabama.
used caller Id after called by this number which directed me on answer ma****e to call1 855 662 86?? last two numbers vocally suppressed. Called said he was from regions and fraud was detected on my card, Notified local PD still investigating. Caller ,male had a south USA accent So far the research indicate the call came from Jefferson county Alabama.
Caller ID identified this as a wireless number which was the first tipoff. Caller identified himself as from the Regions debit card fraud department - abruptly ***g up when I told him the party he asked for was not here. I called the number back and was sent to a standard voice mail box - not a business. Called Regions who told me that while it is the correct area code, it is NOT one of their numbers.
Called Regions and asked about this number. They said it was the fraud dept. and they did catch someone using my card. They person never asked for any account information. However, when I called the number back, it was the voice mail of a hispanic male laughing. I am very upset and confused. We cancelled our cards and plan on cancelling our account in order to protect our money. I am not sure what is going on or how my card number was exposed as it has not been out of my sight. Thats the world we live in.
