Leave a CommentMy boss e-mailed me about this, and I sent it to the consumerist website here:http://consumerist.com/5061634/fake-irs-fax-d ... nt-and-passportI also contacted the Seattle PD, so hopefully they can do so****ing about it.
Same fax to my office in ***an. No name as to me. "Dear Sir". 206 is Seattle, Washington. Problem is he has hacked somewhere in the US as regards me, a non-citizen. There have been warnings from IRS. They would never, never fax or e-mail. Hope they catch this guy.
Yea, I just received a fax too today at my school I work for in ***an... The thing is, I'm not even a US citizen. ***anese teacher gave it to me****uming it was for me but she didn't know what it was.
My relatives in Taiwan got same fax two days ago. I told them not to reply it because there was no receiver's name on it. Also, instead of sending a fax, IRS will send you a letter normally. I wonder how this person get my relatives' fax number that sometimes communicate with our fax in US?
Thank you every one! I have confirmed my doubt.I got the same fax in my office in ***an. There is no my name on it. They must get the fax number in the company web site. But how did they know that I was in US? Did they read my ***anese profile in the site? LinkedIn seemed most su****ious.Internet Fax made this thing happened. I though this was vanished 10 years ago. This blog has a picture of the fax.http://www.prodigalaboratory.net/arc***es/51108261.html
I work in ***an as an English teacher at a public school in Tokyo and have been here for about 6 years. Another teacher received a fake letter claiming to be from the IRS with a W-8BEN form attached by fax at their public school! This phone number was at the bottom of the form. The letter says that the IRS needs to update the teacher's information for IRS records and asks that they fill out the form and fax it back to 206-888-1766. This is clearly a scam. If you receive any faxes or letters in the mail claiming the same, you can be sure it's not legit.
This FAX requires to fill out personal information in W-8BEN form.It comes from 'International Revenue Service(IRS.gov)', says that I am recorded as a non-resident alien in U.S.A., and am exempted from U.S.A. tax reporting and withholdings. And interest will be paid me. I think it seems to be a lie because I don't have any valuable things in U.S.A. So I didn't reply.
Received a Fax requesting to fill out W8 IRS form with personal details and signatures and fax it back. I did not answer .
