Since I'm in New Jersey and the call is from Maine, I'm guessing my telephone or electric company at my second home in Maine is selling account information to people.

I just got 2 calls today from them! I never picked them up I let the ma****e get it! There was alot of noise in the back ground of people talking and then they **** up! My number is not listed and I don't give it out to anyone but friends and family and legit businesses!

Some marketing companies buy telephone lists from the telephone company. Other marketing companies create their own lists by calling the various telephone numbers and compiling the number of active responses. Computers are very good at doing tedious and repetive tasks and also for number-crun****g tasks.Normally this is not a problem, unless the marketing company classifies your telephone/cell phone as a high value customer and sells on such a call list to other marketing companies. Sometimes it is a marketing company verifying whether the purchased mailing list of perspective customers phone numbers actually work. It is probably done with a computer. When you answer the phone, the phone emits a signal that the phone is off the hook, which confirms the validity of the phone number.

I keep getting a call from this number but they don't leave a message and when I answer it they don't say anything

leaves no msg.  caller id says "Friendly Msg"

I didn't answer the call at 0800 this morning but I did when it called me a***n at 1300 and like everyone else, no reply it just ***g up on my after a few seconds.

when i answer and ask it to talk to me, it just waits a few seconds and says "goodbye". so far today, in five hours i have received five calls. Caller ID says it is "FRIENDLY MESSAGE".

Why do these telemarketers keep calling? i have no interest in going to school right now, i need cash money worse than going to school.
