Checked the Home Depot website and there was no such credit card. Presumably a phishing operation. AT&T needs to put a stop to this.
There was a weird buzzing sound in the background. He asked if I recently opened a Citi Diamond Preferred credit card, if I applied from a computer or mobile device and if I applied from home or the vicinity of my home. Then said “Thank you, we’ll be in touch with a decision within a few days” and hung up. I called Citi fraud dept and it was in fact a scammer.
Asked if I recently tried to open an LL Bean account.
minutes after I requested a credit limit increase, I received a call from this number asking me to verify that I had requested a credit limit increase. It would seem that this scammer has access to Citibank online information specifically at least as to requests for credit limit increase.
Asked to verify recent transactions on account
Said they noticed unauthorized activity on Best Buy account-number given doesn’t match number on the back of my card for customer service.
"This message is for ***. This is the Home Depot customer protection department calling to verify I can be on the account. Give me a call you have in the back of the credit card. Our hours of operation are between 8 AM to 12 AM Eastern time. When you call us back, please provide the reference number of 1132 and have your Best Buy account number available...."
They said someone applied for a loan in my wife's name. Provided a security code and a callback number that I believe is a now defunct actual Citi number.
Left an unclear fuzzy voicemail. Something about my accounts
Left voicemail claiming to be with Citi bank, left a reference number to use when calling back. Lots of stammering over her script, long pause made by the caller to read off a name I've never even heard before that she's supposedly calling to speak to. Just another scammer...
They rang my phone 3 times in a row in 3 minutes in the middle of the afternoon and didn't leave a message. NO legit company does that. Block them! It made me wonder if there was an emergency with my family--(but if there was, they would have been a message left). Never pick up! Just block them!
I'm a banker with Citibank your CD has come to expire and I'm calling for any ***istance you may need. I called the bank and was informed there's no récord of that phone call or call customers. They send notices.
Heard lots of static - Tried to pronounce my name and calling from Citibank
Said Citibank
To call back regarding suspicious transactions with your Citibank account.
They called to verify my Macy's card was okay now after reporting to fraud department.
He said, I Just want to ask you one question, are you satisfied with the services you are receiving, yes or no. He called at 8am pst, from San antonio, CA banks don't open til 10 am. I called my local bank and spoke to a person I know there, when they opened. They suspect scam to record voice saying "yes", she suggested I call number on back of my card re fraud alert.
This is a fishing scam. Called claimed to be from citibank and wanted to confirm my account number, security code, social security number and p***word. Fraudulent Phishing Scam!!!!
Said someone opened an account in name today. Which I know was a lie because I have credit alert.
Asked for my ex-wife by her maiden name. Said it was regarding a personal business matter. Refused to say who they worked for.

Asking for name
She said that someone trying to access my best buy credit card details
Fraud charges on my card and wanted personal information.
Rec'd a call saying charges were on my Costco credit card/account...don't have one
She asked if I applied for a Citi bank credit card. No- she said she would reject the application. She did not ask for any information , just told me to put a fraud alert on my acct. When I got to Esperian website - Citibank was doing a credit card inquiry. Placed the fraud alert. I think she is legit.
Didn't answer, the left a message saying I had submitted an application for a best buy credit card & wanted to confirm. Didn't call them back
Said that he was with the fraud department for HOME DEPO and tha our account is suspended (the thing is we don't have a card yet)
No answer, but Caller ID said Citibank
It was Citibank calling in to check on my fraud report, this number is legit it just looks sketchy but Citibank numbers will call out of Cali or Texas that’s how you know it’s them
Said someone was trying to open a citi credit card and gave me a number to call to put a freeze and they would need my SS and additional info n would take 20 minutes. Fraud!!!
In order to continue processing my request they need additional information. please call 1-888-201-4523 they left a reference No. and a security code No. to use when I called back
Voicemail--- minimal info ... just "... a personal banker calling from Citibank" and a request to call him back. Sounded bogus... not a CItibank number.
Citibank wanted to contact about possible fraud on my account. The automated system asked for San number and tax is number. We don’t even have a Citibank card
Not even my name.
Trying to verify Personal Information regarding "Personal Business". Hung up after I asked what it was regarding and I would not identify myself to them.
Fraud call wanting verification that an application for a Best Buy card was legit. Did not call her back.
Called but left no message
Fraud phishing scam!
Claims to be from Citi Bank. Claimed that a fraudulent app was sent in and approved, and that there is now an outstanding balance on a new Citi card. But most of the info they confirmed with me is a little bit off. First off, no card issuer would issue a card out let alone allow charges to be made on a card if the application containing incorrect info. At the end of the call, the rep asked me to call 800-825-0393, and give them my SSN to check the status of the investigation. I was contacted by a single rep on two separate occasions claiming to be two different people; first Amanda, then Lisa. Both using the same script. I wonder whether this is a SSN phishing scam.
