This is NOT a landline as I received a text from it saying "hi." Upon me telling them they have wrong #, they texted same thing an hour later from a different #. Definitey not a coincidence.

Melanie First of all if you are being charged in a criminal matter they would never call you requesting you pay money, Fraud is a criminal offense not a  offense. Civil case is like if you owe a debt and don't pay it, civil offenses you cannot go to jail for. So that first of all should tell you right away it is fraud, if they claim you owe them money ask them to send it in writing. I have a similar situation but someone is calling two of my friends saying I owe them money, and I commited Fraud, they told my ex he had to pay them. They did it last year and now they are doing it again. Definatly report them, I am trained in the legal field, and also don't give them any information. and be careful who you are giving your information too.

MN Same here.  Calls and hangs up.  I don't live anywhere near the state or know anyone in the state where this number comes from (which is Michigan, btw).  It needs to stop!

D. Williams I also recevied the call from a Adam Smith cailming I owe Cash USA money and I ask him to email or mail me all of his information. He told me it was against the law. I told him that it is not against the law to send me information about a debt. He then asked me when I was going to pay and I told him I wasn't becasue I don't owe any money to anyone. So he hung up and I never recieved my email.

respectable citizen I got a call from these people,and tried to get there information on who they are and they refused to give there information.They were very rude and actully called me a crimanal.and kept insisting they were gonna arrest me for being me.I kept calling them back to try and get information on who they were and what company they were from,mrs.Green oh officer green stated they were gonna call and get more for harrassment.I stated I just wanted to get this straighted out taken care of.they said to me not to worry about it they were just gonna have me arrested..and then hung up.so don not give them any of your information...

Angela I got a call just today from this number. A guy with Indian Accent saying his name was Patty Conner from US Crime Prevention. Said that if I called him back I should have a leagal attorney on my side. First of all a foreign guy with girl name. SCAMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!! This is the second time I have recieved a call like this. I am getting tired of it, thinking maybe I should call Dateline and get them to invest it. I really don't like it that they know my social security number. Someone needs to put a stop to this.

unknownGirl Ok, so I received a call from this number at work. My coworker took a message for me. She said it was "Officer Adam Smith" calling from the Crime Prevention Dept. Ok, he had an Indian accent. Does that sound like an Adam Smith to you?? Uh-no..He told her that I should contact him immediately regarding a fraud. Right after I got the message, he called on my cell phone and left a message. Saying same thing and that he strongly suggest me to give him a call back asap to take care of this matter. He said if I decide not to call him back then I need to find a legal attorney to represent me. He knew the last four digits of my ss#. I was freaking out, thinking did I do something wrong that I didn't know of?? Of course not. Im a good person. I know that I haven't commit any crime..at the end of his message he said if I don't call back, he wish me luck and may God be on my side...now what the heck is that all about..Total Scam...I tried calling the number back several times..but i can only leave a message. No answer...be aware...

xenowarrier The caller from 231-577-4894 is probably located in a foreign country and linking to that number using a cellphone,  she is not a legitimate debt collector, she is a scammer. Don't worry about her threats, scammers like this will never take any sort of legal action against their victims. If she calls you again, don't give her any information, not even your name. Just let her know that you know she is a scammer, and hang up. She will then call you back a minute later, just let the phone ring and don't answer it.

Accused and Innocent I have been getting calls from this number also. I am getting calls from an Officer (suposedly) Named Angela Green. I keep asking what it is in reference to and they fail to give me any information everytime they call.   I asked them if they were aware of the laws in teh United States of America on calling a person at there work.  This must have upset them a little because I recieved three calls after I made that statement.   I really think that this compmany would have much better results if they cahnged their tactics for collection.  Lying to educated people about collection procedures is not working

April We get calls repeatedly from that number.... they are always coming to arrest in four hours. If you are like us you will start getting several calls a day.

T Smith I received a phone call from a foreign lady today who said she was with the Federal Crime unit investigating me for fraud.  She had all of my information and said I owed 500.00 to a cash central USA loan company.  When I asked for her information, she hesitated and would not give me the information.  Said I had until 2:00 p.m. to settle this or they would send it to court.  Said they had over 60 attorneys working on my case.  I laughed and said you have over 60 attorneys working on my case for a $500.00 supposed loan??  I asked to speak to her supervisor and she push the phone buttons a couple times and acted like she transferred me and then a male of Indian descent comes on and I said if I owe money I will pay but I would like to have your mailing address, phone, business license, etc and then he acted like he could no longer hear me and said my name several times and then hung up on me.  I refused to be scammed!!!  Do no take calls from this number 231-577-4894.  Do not give your cc# or information.  The city and state listed on my caller ID was Cadillac, MI.

I recently had a call from the same "Shirley Williams" from the "US Crime Division" who could barely speak English and her voice sounded robotic.  She claimed that she was going to have me and my wife arrested, I told her I was calling the FTC and not to call me again.  She hung up on me several times and became even more threatening when I told her I was calling the FTC, she said "you watch and see".  I don't know how they ended up with my information but I can assure anyone that get's a call from these idiots not to cooperate and certainly don't give them any information.

FL received a recorded call from 231-577-4638 (Cadillac, Mi)on Dec 24th at 2:22 p.m. eastern time from a Stacy Kaminski saying we won a lincoln Nav. and other prizes and to call 800-428-9083 immediately... this was time sensitive and Congrats!! Called the # and reached another recording saying all "directors" were busy w/other callers but to leave name and state I was calling from and a "Director" would get back to us ASAP. Never heard back!!

I was called by some people who called themselves the Federal Council of US Government. They first called in September calling themselves: US Investigation Bureau Division of Crime & Prevention. The second phone number was 916 236 4573. They always answer "Hello" which is not normal for an agency or company.I have asked them to send me information,but they refuse and say they will send information to my supervisor at work.Nothing so far. I said they were a scam and they just laughed and said they weren't.

This person called my father's phone about 2 hours ago and asked for me...BY NAME!!!  When he said that I wasn't there, they said 'bye', and hung up.  Needless to say, I'm more than a little concerned about the fact that they have my name...

I just received a phone call with this number and my caller ID showed "Traverse City, MI." Living in Florida, I do not know anyone from that area, so I didn't answer and typed the number in Google... and found this message board. Glad I did not answer.If it happens again, I will post a comment with information on how to report the company for unsolicited calls.

Charles called asked for my husband but would not tell me who he was with after serveal attempts for him to identify himself . He stated he was my husbands boyfriend. What a smart a**. I hung up tried to call back but no answer. They called again the next day but different solictor. I asked to speak to there supervisor but they put me on hole and the call was then diconected. Im looking for thses people so I can contact there superivisor.

Call several times a week.  Tonight they told me I better wait by the phone because they are going to call me every 5 minutes.  They are not even asking for anyone that lives here.  What can we do?

Getting repeated calls from this number. and when I answer, no response except disconnect, even if only two rings before pickup.  Attempted callback to tell them to stop gets only busy signal.  Am also on do-not-call list.

This number keeps calling my house I answer I can hear background noise and then they hang up on me.  I have tried to call it back and the call will not connect.  This is really starting to make me mad!!!!!

We have been getting calls from this number for a few days now. Always at night when the kids are all in bed. They're ages 3, 21 months and 2 months so them sleeping is very important! Whenever we answer, they hang up! SERIOUSLY, doesn't whoever it is have ANYTHNG better to do!?!?!

ABSOLUTE DIRTBAGS...THREATENED ME!!!Calling for magazine renewal that i haven't had in 4 years.  I asked be taken off list.  They continued to call, I got irritated,and when I demanded to be removed he told me "uh, no due to your attitude"  I hung up and he called back and I asked for a manager and he told me he was the king.  THen proceeded to tell me he would ring my phone every hour every day because I disrepected him.

stacy Got the same phone call from Jessica Brown today at work.  I don't know how she/they got my new work number as I have only had the number for 2 weeks.  I called the number back and talked to "Frank" who didn't want to tell me what company he represents.  Be VERY carefull about these phone calls.  This past summer, we actually had to close our bank account because someone like Jessica Brown, had all my information and was using our checking account number for online purchases.

Kim I would just like to say this same thing has happened to me this week. I was in tears and scared to death. They called me mom as well who was listed as a reference and she thought i was going to jail as that is what she was told. When I pressed for more information, such as the payday loan company they first gave me a hard time and then said SJM, a supposed parent company which is BS. They then used a name of a payday comp that I did use at one point. I called them and they said this was nothing but a scam. If anyone get this call, press them for information and they will hang up and leave you alone. I am appauled and stressed over this issue

Receive multiple calls from this number most days.  Morning, afternoon, evening.  Will not leave a message or respond when call is actually answered.

This number has been ahowing on my ID for several weeks. No one says anything when I answer. I have tried to call back, but only get a busy signal. I wish I knew how to stop this.

Very threatening, violated MANY debt collection laws in the State of Michigan and shared my personal information with persons other than myself. Threatened criminal prosecution over an alleged payday loan.

My answering machine came on, the person on 231-577-5010 said "Hello" and I heard more voices in the background, they  hung up.  Must be a scam....

I've been getting about 2-3 calls per day for the last few weeks. At times, they have been calling around 7am and 9pm. When I answer, they hang up. Once, I answered the phone by saying "Take me off your calling list!" A women's voice asked why? I said, "Because we do not like solicitors!" She replied,"They were not solicitors. She was calling from Global Readers Services about renewing a magazine subscription that we canceled two years ago." I told her we didn't want to renew it, stop calling. She hung up on me. Later, at 9pm the same night, my husband answers the phone. It was them again! He told them the same thing. They hung up on him also. We have not heard from them for the past 12 hours. Hopefully we won't any longer.

Ressa I keep getting calls from them but when you call back nobody answers. What is the point of the do not call list if they can keep calling.

ellen july 31 2009 i received a phone call from an Officer Jessica Brown on july 28,2009 who told me that i have committed fraud on a loan that i did not get.  i called the michigan state attorney office- michigan state police and jacksonville sherrifs office where i live and was told not to worry about it.  on july 31,2009 i received a letter from state attorney office in florida fronm the  pre trial restitution department who i tried to call but was not in.  the letter has 2 case numbers on it.  i have pulled all my bank statements from december 2008 til now and have nothing on it that says i got the loan.  Officer Brown called my place of employment and informed our phone operator that i would bre going to jail before i was talked to.  Had our JSO oficer call the number got no response on who it was. now i have to miss a days work to take care of this matterbecause i am being scammed.

Bill I discovered a voice mail message on my work phone from this telephone number.  The caller was a woman with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from the Legal Department of Crime & Prevention for the state of Michigan.  She knew the last four digits of my social security and threatened me with legal action if I did not call her back. It concerns me that they know my direct dial work telephone number and the last 4 digits of my social security number.  What should I do?

Debbie this woman called yesterday stating that she was a correctional cop from Michigan. Her name was Jessica Brown. She said that i am being sued, she new my Date of Birth, ssn, and my address. I thought it was legit and even signed a credit card authorization form to DCP associates. What can I do to stop them from taking my money off the account now that I know it is a fraud?

Patricia Chavez Someone claiming to be Officer Ashley James with the Crime & Prevention Department in Michigan just called me on my work number telling me that she had to speak to me about a grave matter involving my credit rating.  She had a very heavy foreign accent and told me to grab a pen and paper to write down important information.  She knew all my personal information, even my social security number, when I asked for more details about why she was calling she transferred me to someone else who claimed to be her senior officer.  I looked up the number she gave me and found that it was a scam.  It really concerns me that this company or whatever it is has all my personal financial information.  What can I do to stop them from calling me? And what are they going to do with all my information?

Chad in addition to having my information she said I was going to jail.  Would whoever this ashlie james is representing need to have us served for these supposed crimes, since she has address and social and phone number.  It is called due process.

I have experienced three of these calls from different numbers in the past 12 months. Bogus AND Illegal to boot.

Tired of the fake calls This number 231-577-4889 just called me also some indian accented lady claiming to be Ashley James... and on my job none the less! Couldn't give me any information except that I had committed some fraud and if I did not cooperate by grabbing a pen and righting some info down then I should be ready to be behind bars. What is this all about? When I called the number back it went straight to this same person and not a real building or office got to be a SCAM!!!!!!!!

To report a call from this number you can call the real FBI at 231-946-7201 and report it. the more calls the better, maybe something can be done about this guy.

Robert This number is a scam or bill collector.  The person on the line had a heavy indian accent and claimed he was looking for someone because they had created "internet fraud".  When pumped for additional information he was unable to provide.  A Simple reverse lookup showed the number to be bogus.
