I have received 9 calls in the last 4 days, 4 of them on a Sunday. I answer but no one replies. I can hear background noises so I know someone is on the line. They never leave a messge. I live in Dallas and am a subscriber to the Dallas Morning News. I plan to confront them.
Have been receiving calls but no messages from 240-210-7085. Coming in at odd hours. Guess next time they call, I need to get out a whistle to **** in their ear!

I too kept getting calls from this number. Finally picked up and it was Dallas Morning News wanting to remind me my subscription was about to expire. I told them if they keep calling me I will cancel. How annoying!
Have received 7 calls from 240-210-7085 in the past 4 days. Tired of it. If newspapers think this is a way to get subscribers, they are sadly mistaken. I don't subscribe or take solicitation calls from ANYONE. Save your nickel.
The caller ID had Dallas Morning News. So I answered the phone& the caller just laughted & laughted. It was a girl. I keptsaying "Hello" & she kept laughing.I ***g up.
Scam artist trying to get you to give him a credit card number to lower your news paper delivery cost.
Our experiences is the same. Numerous calls from this number. No one answers. You can hear their background noises. Other calls I pick up the phone and say nothing thing thinking there may be a computer glitch my answering voice may cause. Sunday, Mothers Day a very aggressive you owe us money man, which we do not, was on the line. He would not accept this conversion is over and pressed for a renewal. They continued to throw the paper after our subscription expired . Seemed to be the Tony Soprano subscription renewal Service. It was a Better Off Dead movie moment. Two Dollar you owe me two dollar. The approximate amount they tried to stiff arm. Today we called the Dallas Morning and informed them of these these harassing phone calls and we we did not renew and shall not renew our subscription.
They keep calling. I am already a subscriber to DMN
Received several calls with caller ID showing "Dallas Mng News," which I ignored at first. The Dallas Morning News went up $9.00 a month in one fell swoop, so I negotiated a promotional rate and am waiting for a corrected bill before I pay. I did call the number back and it was one of those boiler room operations calling people about their subscriptions.
The call I am receiving from this number is from the Dallas Morning News wanting me to extend my subscription. I have answered and told them, numerous times, that I have cancelled my subscription. I continue to recieve at least 3 calls a day with one day receiving 7 in a 12 hour period. If I don't answer the call, they do not leave a message. If I do answer the phone, I have to hold in order to speak to a live person.
For the past three or four evenings, during dinner hour, we get a call from the above number, Caller I.D. states Dallas Morning News. This is strange since it is not the correct area code for Dallas, which is 214. They do not leave a message and we do subscribe to this paper. I would think IF this call is legitimate they would indeed leave a message to return their call. After reading the above complaints I find this very su****ious.
They have called several times. When I answer no response
keeps calling all hours even weekends
This person has called my cell phone a few times a day for the last week or so.They never leave a message.
Calls my home phone, leaves a silent message, can only hear someone breathing
This number is a major nuisance and needs to be shut down ASAP
I answered once and the lady asked if I was enjoying my Dallas Morning Newspaper. I have never received or subscribed to the paper. I let the lady know she had the wrong number, she said she would remove it but I still get two to three calls a day from this number. I now just ignore them.
Ditto... constant automated call, no message, pain in the rear.Don't know if this will work or not but I went to this site (http://www.circulationservices.com/contact.shtml) and sent an email to each of the contacts listed asking them to stop calling my cell phone...wish me luck!
1-31-2009 I have been getting calls from this # for several weeks 2 or 3 per day.I finally answered and was told may newspaper subscription was up for renewal.Dont know why a Dallas ,Tx. newspaper would have a Md.#...
I've been receiving multiple calls daily from 240-210-7085. After reading the posts on this site, I did some sear****g and found that "866thepaper" appears to be****ociated with circulationdirect.com. This site appears to be linked to press-1.com. Looks like they provide services to newspapers, such as obtaining new subcribers, retaining existing subscribers, etc. My newspaper subscription recently ran out, which is probably why I'm receiving the calls. Here's a quote from their site.1-866-THE-PAPER: The new telemarketing regulations require that we provide caller ID information and leave voice messages with households whose calls we can't take (dropped calls). We provide the "easy to remember" 1-866-THE-PAPER" so that when the curious call back, we can provide them with your best subscription offer or even a free, two-week sample! It works almost every time!!!
Received this call several times over the past several days. Latest was Sunday morning 9:48AM CST. They never leave any message. When I called back I received a message "866The Paper". Also the greeting stated that "our office is now closed" . Apparently their office is closed in order to avoid getting the type of annoying phone calls after hours and on weekends that they themselves make.
This ***** called at 7:50 p.m.,( during the national college football championship game). After a dull "hullo", I responded that she only needed to remember 4 words-"DO NOT CALL REGISTRY!!!;Then I ***g up. If this is an attempt to sell newspapers, it is obviously another example that the newspaper business is in it's "***** Throes"
240-210-7085 is a southwestern bell mobile cell. Found this info on yahoo and google search. Main location Waldorf MD This number calls multiple times each day,a.m./p.m. and Sunday. Leaves no message. Caller I.D. prints out DALLAS MNG NEWS. Is this harrassing call originating from your local newspaper delivery who sold your number? One of the posts indicate they answer 866thepaper. Did this company buy up the list of subscribers from all local papers across the nation and now harr***** the subscriber? Your phone number is tagged to your account with newspaper service. The phone companies need to allow us to block out long distance numbers. I have call block but it will not block a long distance number, the phone company wants the revenue from the long distance calls.
Call every night for no reason and will leave long voicemails of nothing but static. Usually at 4pm or 7pm at night they call. Last call was 12/22/08 at 7pm. Called back and got a customer service guy that didn't give his name and I told him I was on the donotcall registry
