Its a bill collector i just dont answer or call back if no message is left.

Hare Called asking for my daughter.  When I told him that she doesn't live here, he ***g up.

katie we get this call on our business line every couple of days. they say nothing and eventually the call is disconnected.

Steve This is a collector, most probably Protocol Recovery Services.  A common practice to get you to answer the phone is to print a nearby city in the caller ID.  However, most of the time, if you look at the prefix of the phone number, you will find that those first three digits aren't even within the city.  Its a trick to get you to answer the phone.  The reason they disconnect is that they are looking for someoene else.  They are trying to contact as many people as they can and if they know its not the person, they just disconnect.  This is a violation of FDCPA and you can sue them for harassment if they fail to identify.  If they call you repeatedly, do***ent the concern with an FTC and BBB complaint, take it to an attorney and sue them for harassment.  These guys will also call you at work.  If you ever see the caller ID printing a nearby city, its a collector, dont answer the phone.
