Had all my personal information (addresses/phone # present & past as well as my families' information). Felt like I was being blackmailed

This guy told me he was doing contract work in Turkey, and his grandson had heart problems and he wanted me to send him 1200.00 dollars for his grandson heart medicine. He also said he wanted to get married. He sent me a bogus contract that said he had a shopping mall to rebuild in 3 weeks. I got a call from him this morning telling me he wanted to send me a check and get the money off of it through my bank and send it to him in a credit card. I had a gut feeling he was a scammer , because he kept asking me if I had a credit card. Beware of this guy he is using dating sites to find victims he can scam.
