Leave a CommentI received a call w/ no message on the answering ma****e. Two day later I received a call on my cell phone. The man quickly suggested that he was calling regarding a debt that might have IRS consequences. He asked to confirm my name and my SS#. I inquired in some detail: What is your name? Who are you calling on behalf? What do the initials CRA stand for? What debt are you referring to? He informed me that this was a credit card debt to Chase from 2001. O.k., I responded, what can I for you? If I would just give him two minutes without challenging everything he said, he would explain. I said go ahead -- you have two minutes. He responded that it would not take that long. After one minute and fifty seconds, I informed him that he had ten seconds and he wound up his pitch -- just send him money and there would not be any IRS consequences. I said o.k., listen carefully as I closed the phone shut. It was actually kind of fun toying with him. FYI: (1) These slimes buy stacks of bank write-offs for pennies on the dollar with the right to collect anything they can. (2) Every state has statute of limitations on contractual matters. Therefore, the credit card company usually has three years to bring a formal action to collect the debt after which they lack any legal basis to initiate a collection action. [Caution: Sometimes a bank will get you to send a partial payment which s****s the statute of limitations all over a***n.] (3) Absent fraud, the IRS also has a statute of limitations on collection actions. (4) These slimes are just throwing a lot of s---- a***nst the wall and hoping some will stick (and I suppose some does).
Wow! So I get this call from 310-697-3115. He asked for my name specifically and I verify (******!!) by saying "Yes, this is." They say they are calling about unclaimed income to the IRS, making it sound as if they are calling about your taxes. I told him that I know I report all of my income. I asked a***n if he was the IRS. They then end up being a collection agency called CRA (consumer recovery****ociates.) They are very tricky with their wording, although they claim not to be when I told him he was. Then I inform him that this is ridiculous to call me on so****ing that occurred over 10 years ago. He proceeds to tell me that this bill is considered unearned income. I told him all these fees that he wants to include are not income! He says they are. When I try to talk he keeps interrupting me and I say "Excuse me, you called me, may I speak?" Then he says, "Ma'am, now that you have become aggressive and raised your voice to me, I have no further choice but to take different action." I have simply spoke in a stern voice since nothing else would make him shut up! Wow! What a ****! I ***g up on him while he was still talking.I am sure this is the same company that called my house two weeks ago and when I refused to give them my social security number until they told me what is was about, the lady got huffy and ***g up on me...she had made it sound like I had won so****ing when she first called. She was just as pushy and rude.
I just received a call from this number. When I called it back a recorded message that said "reached CRA your call maybe recordered". They left no message when they call me.
Also received a call from this number and what a surprise no one left a message. If so****ing is really important, most legitimate callers would leave a message. Don't you think?
A man with an india accent demanded a payment on a bogus loan.
Got a call from this number. The caller did not leave any message.
