Leave a CommentWe also got a call from the number above. The man had a foreign accent but gave the name Jeff Paul, his agent number and the above number as a callback. He said his company's name was the Ca***ian Consumer Protection Agency and that we would qualify for a lower interest rate of 6.9%. He had my name, address and telephone number. I must admit that I was tempted. I really wanted to believe that I could get a lower rate! However, when he asked for my credit card number for "verification," I balked and he replied that I was "covered." I spoke to my credit card company who replied that they don't work with third party companies and that no one has the right to negotiate lower interest rates but my company itself. On the bright side, I inquired about a lower interest rate and got it!
i received a call from one of the customer care officer who's name was Alan wilson from ( 403-648-9228 ) he was a very sweet and kind person who i spoke too it was regarding too lower my interest rates..?? he explained me regarding the whole regulated program and how it works and yes it a legitimate company bec as he told me i would even get too see it in black and white too my current mailing address in a couple of weeks ..!!! And i did
Same accent claimed to be Bedford Finacial Solutions, number given doesn't match company web site. http://bedfordfinancialsolutions.com/ Was rather aggressive on phone, wouldn't let go. Very insistant on waiting for the credit card numbers.
this guy called today, same thing, a recording tells you to hit 9... then an agent comes on trying to get ur credit card number so hey can reduce the interest rate.. sounded very fishy... said he was with CCA and to checkout their site: www.creditcardconsumeradvocates.com ; and that site seems to exist but the call center is in NY which does not correspond with the (403): alberta number.... Sounds like a SCAM to me!!!
I just got the call from 403-648-9228...bad connection, strong accent could understand me. I was asking for a website and toll free number. She was rude and mouthed me off. When I ***g up she called me back from 647-2881289 and said "is this better now mam". When I asked if the company had a website she ***g on me.
Dead-air call at 12:04 p.m. today
just got a dead-air call, called it back with *67 and found out that these guys are supposedly "credit card consumer advocates" and gave the website http://www.creditcardconsumeradvocates.com. This is strange because I got a call from these same guys earlier today from a different number, 647 288 1289, told them not to call back.
Have two calls from this number, one an auto response, sounding very important, saying they had made numerous calls to my number and my card was in danger of default unless I spoke to them right now. Second call no one at their end bothered to reply. I phoned the number on my call display and a male answered, told him not to phone my line a***n.
I received this call today, and I didn't even get a person on the phone...I answered and it sounded like there was someone there, but I also immediately had a recording asking me to speak to a representative to push 9. I didn't do that, but when I stayed on the line and no one answered, the recorded voice came back and said that was an invalid response...and then once a***n the same recording asking me to press 9 to speak to a representative...didn't answer, as they didn't even leave a name of the company or anything so I knew what I would be talking to a representative about.
Ca***ians - Please report all calls from this # to the RCMP via their program Phone Busters. http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/scams-fraudes/phonebusters-eng.htm Maybe they'll put a stop to it before someone's grandma gives away her bank account info.
I got a call from this number. The guy (who spoke with an Indian or Pakastani accent) congratulated me because I had been chosen to be offered 1.9% interest on my credit cards. He said that he worked in conjuction with the banks, and major credit card issuers. I had been selected because I had made at least the minimum payment on my credit cards in the last few months. You get placed on hold a few times and talk to different people (all with the same accent - call routed from overseas to this number). They asked for my date of birth. They ask you to recite your whole credit card #. When stated I felt uncomfortable with this, they said that I could state the card number 99 times incorrectly and one time correct, and they would verify which was either. They asked for the expiry. Then I was put on hold. They later came back and gave me my exact outstanding balance. They then asked for my limit to which I played dumn. Then they asked for the #'s on the back of the card, at which point I ***g up. After ****ning up they immediately tried to call x2 in a row. I immediately called up my credit card company. The security company said with the information I provided them, they could phone the credit card automated customer line to get a balance. If I had provided the #'s on the back they would be able to make charges. The security department said it was not necessary to cancel my card, I could if I felt uncomfortable. So I cancelled my card and now will have to wait 10 business days or more to get a new numbered card. This is a SCAM. You can deal directly with the credit card issuer to lower your rates. Never reveal the #'s on the back of your card, other-wise they can go on a spending spree!
ALERT! THIS IS NIGERIAN FRAUD - DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION WHAT SO EVER, REPORT TO ANY CREDIT CARD THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO USE AND POLICE FOR ADVICE, THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THESE GUYS.
Called around noon, left a weird message, did not appear on call list. Called to find out who was calling and they were asking questions about my credit card number. Very strange call, I reported it to the police and my credit card company.
Could barely understand the message. The voicemail cut it off before I could make out anything.

Call from Steve..said he was Ca***ian Credit Protection. Wanted to know if I was paying more then 14% interest on Visa or Mastercard and in good standing. Said he could lower my rate on these cards to 2-7 %. When he asked which card I wanted to lower rate on I ***g up. He called back, but left no message. Previously I would get an automated call from another number, press 3 if you didn't want anymore calls...dunno if there is a connection..do not recall that number.
Got a call at 4.30 pm today, from 403 - 648 - 9228 A man I had a hard time understanding tells me since I make my payments every month I was en***led to a 5.9 percent or lower interest rate for all of my credit cards. S****ed to ask me what credit cards I had and at what percent interest, my husband was in the room listening and freaked out,I asked him since he knew I paid my payments every month ....he should know what credit cards I have and at what interest! I told him I would check them out and call him tomorrow he told me his name was Mike Johnson...yeah right and gave me the number I could call but it would be better if he called back I said I would call but s****ed once a***n to ask me questions I ended the call. The call quality was very poor and he spoke with a foreign accsent. I have signed up for the DO NOT CALL LIST I hope it includes idiots like this from calling me.
rec'd an automated recording on my VM from someone named "Lisa" advising me of my credit card... just another scan trying to steel iden***y or switch cards...do not call requests do not work.
When I asked the caller to identify what is going on, she/he ***g up.
When I asked the caller to identify what is going on, she/he ***g up.
I've had my number active for 3 days and I registered it under the do not call registry since Nov 26. Only people who have my new number area utilities or credit card companies. So either this is a random dialer trying to take advantage of my number while its in the "do not call" transition period, or one of my "trusted" companies is selling my number.Call was an automated message saying they would lower my credit card rate and to press 9.
called said he would reduce my visa rate, i asked him to hold, went out back for a smoke came back in he was still on the line. i mentioned i was on my cell with visa, and he ***g up !! LOSER.. i don't have a visa !!!!
got a call at noon - no message so I called back. He (with heavy thick accent) already knew my name, address and phone number. Wanted to lower my interest rate on MasterCard. Said he was not****ociated with any bank and was from credit advocates. Told him we've closed the account and he ***g up.

I got a call about 1:45 pm today and this guy with foreign accent, poor connection quality and I knew it was a scam but let him go on. They sure make it sound good and then they say we need to verify information but before I ***g up, HE asked me to write this number down in case we get disconnected. Probably a fake name.....sure sounds like it for a foreign dude, too funny. Joel Joseph, took me a few minutes to make out Joel the way he spoke. Anyways he said 403-648-9228 and his direct extension is #777, how lucky eh. Then he said CCCA, is for Credit Card Consumer Advocates and when he was going to ask for information I said, no-no-no I never give that out to anyone over the phone and said I was going to check the internet to see if there was a website and if legitimate and ***g up. Guess what he called back in about a minute and asked why I ***g up and I told him a***n, it sounds too fishy and that I was going to check it out and if I wanted to, I had his number to call him back and ***g up a***n. He has not phoned back and then I found this site, hmmmmm.
This number came up on my answering ma****e, no message left.
Called twice less than an hour apart... had to push 9 to speak to a person, requested to be taken off the call list and he began ranting about this being a very important call to lower my interest rate. I told him I didn't want a credit card he said he isn't offering me one just lowering my interest rate. A***n asked to be removed and he began getting angry with me.. male with a very heavy accent... if they want to scam us they should at least get people who can speak good english. Called the number back to see if it would take me to an automated service to remove my number, and it took me back to the same guy who answered saying "customer service". Definitely a scam!
Called me from this number, waited until I said*****o ..
SteveSaid that in regard to my "CIBC TD Scotiabank Royal Bank" Visa card by Ca***ian law I was en***led to a lower interest rate. Clearly a scam. Caller did not identify which bank my credit card was with and wanted me to verify and supply details regarding card expiry date, balance and best of all... is the card credit in good standing. Male voice, foreign-sounding accent. Poor sound quality with call centre background noises.
Hi, this is an obvious Nigerian Scam. They are renowned for fraud and scamming with fake certified checks, cerdit cards and even they can hack into bank accounts and transfer to overseas accounts. Ive been had once, and they tried manhy times after...If this number shows up on your telephone, answer it and notify them then you have softward to retrace calls to a fized adress, that should at least scare them off to anyther****ential victim
called my number at noon. I called them back and the guy with a heavy accent answered the phone and said that I was picked to get a lower interest rate on my credit card. I dont own a credit card and when I told him this he said ok have a nice day and ***g up on me.
Received 2 calls today one hour apart, both went to the answering ma****e but when I picked up during the first call ***ody would speak I must have said*****o 6 times. You could hear phones ringing and other voices in the background but ***ody spoke to you. Can not believe they are connected with the above banks at all.
Got a call from 1-403-648-9228(named Jimmy)claiming i have won a vacation, his accent very heavy, very persuasive to get personal info I **** up with some choosen word.
1-403-648-9228 called (Arlene) to say that I had won a 14-day vacation for four. She was hard to understand and was probably calling from a call centre as there were many phones ringing in the background. She said so****ing about Visa/Mastercard but I couldn't quite understand. She invited me to call her back - said she was calling from Escape Travel. Think I'll pass.
1-403-648-9228 called me. They are a mastercard scam wanting to lower your interest rate. I clued in before giving any harmful information, and ***g up on the guy. He also had a HEAVY accent - could barely understand him. After I ***g up he called me back 2 times ---must be desperate to get my credit card information.
offering lower interest rates on all my credit cards. he gave me the name of credit card consumer advocate. He asked what banks were the credit cards issued from. Then asked how much did I owe. I ***g up on him.
Got a call, not blocked, very heavy accent saying _ wow- I won a trip for four.. all in ... because I was such a good visa customer, then went fishing for Visa #, and other information....and passport # ... yikes , I hope ***ody responds ..... that I could sell the package for about $10,000 cash !!! Too good to be true ? He said his name was Johnson, clearly working in a call center. Said he had no supervisor which is likely the only true part.. in fact said he was the boss. Gave him a few graphic suggestions and ***g up. I called back and they identified themselves as " Escape travel ". Followed up with Visa who had no interest in following up , but were very appreciative of the call.I wonder where they escaped from ..?
Caller nearly impossible to understand, because of very heavy accent, trying to sell me on lower Visa card interest rates. He wouldn't tell me who gave him my personal information and claimed he was****ociated with all the major banks. I told him I wasn't interested, that I don't have Visa cards, to which he s****ed to ramble off personal information that only a bank would know. When I told him I was not interested and wanted my number removed from his call list he s****ed to argue with me. Only when I asked to speak to him boss did he lighten up. I was close to ****ing up but decided to give him an ear full first. I called back and found out it is a company called CCA - a company who will offer you a Visa card at a lower rate that what you're paying. They claim to not be****ociated with the banks but work for Visa and Mastercard, selling better cards at better rates. I resent having my personal information being passed on by Visa and will complain to them. I suggest that everyone who gets calls like these do the same.
Called around noon, no one talked. Could hear phones in the background.
Got a scam call today referring to my "CIBC TD Scotiabank Royal Bank" Visa card. Clearly a phishing scam. When I asked the caller to identify which bank my credit card was with, he ***g up.Male voice, foreign-sounding accent. Poor sound quality.
